Default Who is this ? !!!!

I know that it is a longshot but here goes.

My husbands grandmother passed away a couple of years ago at the ripe old age of 98. Her mother Martha Ann Woodroffe, was married to a chap called Henry Forster (1885 - 1913), they had one child, her. After Henry's demise Martha Ann remarried a man called George Ironside (1899 - ?) and they had three children, George, Doreen and Jean (George died as a child)

We were tasked with sorting through her possessions, and among her bits I found this photograph, well a piece of it, and I have NO idea who it is.

The only remaining family are her two sons, both of whom live abroad, but I have mailed them to ask their thoughts, but one thinks the picture is of Henry Forster and the other thinks it is George Ironside.

If anyone can help identify him or even rule someone out bearing in mind Henry's death in 1913 that would be great.

I appreciate that it is a long shot, but I know from experience that stranger things have happened.....

    Hi humbug,

I know a lot of photos do get torn but have you ever thought that this one was torn deliberatley to keep the photo of the male but not the female who was with him at the time. Did either of them marry more than once but had a wife that left him or have parents that split up ? Possibly the second example as the female is standing.

    Hi
    thanks for the replies

Hazelnut - there is nothing at all on the reverse or photographers deatils - nothing - its just as it is which is a shame I know!

Starlight - I know Martha married twice, Henry Forster certainly didn't, and I can't be 100% sure about George, but from what I know I don't think he did.

I have wondered today, it has been dated about 1905 or so elsewhere, so that along with my raw gut feeling takes this to be Henry, he married Martha Ann in 1909, Nanna was born in 1910 and Henry then died three years later. I am wondering if maybe the new husband George tore the photo and Nanna retained the part (from the rubbish??) of her natural father........

    Hi humbug,

Did Nanna have any grand children that she may have shown the photos too, especially grandaughters. They love being shown photos when young and remember things that others may not, or had the families emmigrated by then ?

    Hi humbug,

I am not sure that we are going to be able to help you. It is always possible that someone in the family is also interested in genealogy and may google the names you have added. I hope so, anyway. Good luck.

    Thanks starlight - here's hoping

The photo has been dated around 1905 or so, looking at the man's collar and ladies blouse, other than that I am none the wiser!

I do know now though that George Ironside was born in 1879 and not 1899 as previously thought.

Also can anyone tell me how to edit a previous post?
    Thanks
