We have lift off thanks to The Surrey Mirror.....

I was contacted today by a person who recognised one of the persons in the photograph - an uncle of hers, who just happened to live in the same road as my grandfather - Commonwealth Road, Caterham. no other information forthcoming, but at least it is a start.......

I've now contacted the Croydon Advertiser as well with a view to inserting an article there also..............

My new found cousin who forwarded me the photograph to begin with, recognises the surname, so have e mailed them back and hope to hear something I hope over the next days.....

Catch up time ...had an op on my foot, so been out of circulation for a while, spending short periods of time on here...

Good news on the charanbang, one person now known, their young relative is now in touch with me, so hopefully I can learn more as time passes.......

The photograph was also entered into a Monthly Charabang Newsletter, nothing back from that yet sadly..never mind.....

received some more information today, every little helps....

from Croydon Local Studies.....

We have a small file about C. Taylor & Son whose registered office was at 35 Grant Road , Croydon. They also had offices at 119 High Street , Croydon and 140 Church Street , Croydon. They provided coaches for private hire for excursions and tours (like annual outings, picnics, race meetings) to places like Brighton, Windsor and the Surrey Hills, amongst many other places. They also provided a motor removals service.

Most of the information we have about them is dated 1920s and 1930s-most of it adverts from street directories and newspapers.

I realise this doesn’t really help narrow down the date of the photo or identify anyone in it but I hope you still find it useful
