Hi Catwoman, I have renovated many of my own ancient and cracked photographs and would first of all suggest that you scan the original long school photograph in sections (to fit your scanner) and then at least you would have another record to work on, thus leaving the original in tact.
If the scanned images are then put into a photographic program, quite a lot of the damage can be repaired by cloning, ie. copying a good part of the original photo so as to cover or replace a damaged/cracked portion. If you manage to scan the long photo and, in some way, could send a section of it to me via e-mail, then I would try and renovate it for you so that you could judge whether it was worth continuing with the other sections. The individual sections may possibly be photographically stitched together later when all is completed. Being a newer member, I'm not sure how to contact other members direct so I will leave it to you, if that's OK? Regards, Wak999 |

Hi,
I'm new to the forum, so the original poster may not read this, but I had my old long school photos scanned by this company. http://www.scanero.com They did a great job, and sent a CD with the scans back to me. I also sent them a large batch which they scanned for me very nicely. David |
