Hopefully I have followed procedure correctly and you have the correct photo or any photo at all.
My aim is to show you a photo of a woman in a dark dress wearing a broach. It's the broach with a crown, figures in the middle framed by a metal rib, a metal ribbon, then at the bottom an attachment panel. I'd appreciated knowing what the broach is all about. Try enlarging the image from a high resolution scan with BenVista PhotoZoom Pro (Free try before buy). I tried with the image you uploaded and it looks like in the centre 2 animals on hind legs against a central post, the left one could be a horse. Above could be a crown. the surround could just be leaves with a motto on the scroll underneath.
I might be totally wrong Regards David |

Hi David,
Thank you for getting back with your thoughts. I did as you suggested and downloaded Benvista Zoom, regrettably the best I could before the pixels broke up was clarify in my own mind at least the following.1/ there is a crown, 2/ a oval, 3/ 2 erect kangaroos, 4/ a ribbon or banner, 5/ a name plate hanging from the ribbon. We still do not know anything about the inscriptions although I believe that it may by a war related broach, that given to a mum who has lost a son at war. Best wishes to you and yours, Ray Last edited by Hawks; 28-07-2008 at 01:57 AM. |

Ray
Just looked on here and found AIF Female Relatives Badge WW1 that looked very similar in shape. http://www.diggerhistory.info/pages-.../civilian2.htm it was given to the nearest female relative of anyone on active service overseas. Regards David |
