Let me zoom
Into this quiet room
Put out some tea
Wait and see
Who comes along
Perhaps with a song?
Silly words these I know
So I'll take a bow
But now you're aware
That I've been here
And perhaps this will make you smile
For a while.

FOR ALL THOSE BORN BEFORE 1945. WE ARE THE SURVIVORS
Consider : The changes we have witnessed:
We were born before Television, before Penicillin. Frisbees and the Pill before Polio shots. Frozen Foods, Xerox,
Plastic. Contact Lenses. We were before Credit Cards. laser Beams. and Ball-Point Pens; before. Panyhose. Dishwashers. Clothes Dryers. Electric Blankets. Air- Conditioners. Drip- Dry Clothes and before Man walked on the Moon.
We got married first and then lived together! How quaint can you be?
In our time closets were for clothes, not for "coming out of"! Designer Jeans were, scheming Girls named Jean or Jeanne Having a meaningful Relationship meant getting on well with our Cousins. We thought fast food was what you ate at Lent and,
Outer space was the back of the local Theatre. We were before House-Husbands .Gay rights. Computer - Dating. Dual careers
and Computer marriages. We were before Day-Care Centres. Group Therapy and Nursing homes.
We never heard of FM Radio. Tape Decks . Electric Typewriters. Artificial Hearts. Word Processors.
Yoghurt and Men wearing Earrings. For us. Time-sharing meant togetherness- not Computers or Condominiums.
A "chip" meant a piece of wood. Hardware meant Hardware and Software wasn't even a word!
In 1940, "made in Japan" meant "Junk" and the term "to make out" Referred to how you did in your exam.
Pizzas, McDonalds and Instant Coffee were unheard of. In our day.Cigare tte smoking was fashionable Grass was mowed, and Coke was a cold drink and Pot was something you cooked in. Rock was Grandma's Lullaby . AIDS were helpers in the local Hospital. We were certainly not before the difference between the Sexes was discovered. But we were surely before the Sex change. We made do with what we had!
We were the last generation that was so dumb to think you needed a Husband to have a baby.
No wonder we are so confused and there is such a Generation Gap Today.

Bronson, what you've written is so true
It took me back to my early days
I enjoyed those times, did you?
Though they are a bit of a haze
Innocent and young were we
And conformists too
We'd never heard of a DVD
We girls didn't have a tattoo
So I thank you chum for taking me back
For now goodbye, I must hit the sack
Census information Crown Copyright, in care of TNA.
I thought I'd start my family tree, simple so I thought,
remembering all the stories my Mother often taught,
So I quickly typed some information, dates and names I knew
this is easy, and lots of fun, ancestors I have a few, until I had to do a search
for a Man I'd never met, how hard could it be I uttered to myself,
the info is there to get, so in the search field I typed the name expecting to hit
jackpot, but 'sorry no information' was the only thing I got.
Try as I might to find this dear man the father of fathers was he
his identity evaded me the deeper I looked, I wondered where he might be,
for there were millions recorded with the same name, date of birth, with brothers, and sisters
as well, How would I know it was him, how was I able to tell.
So join a ancestory group was the way, maybe they could unfold the mystery
and I could continue to build up my tree, full of information on my family history.
Family history is great fun ,the highs and lows once begun
Some search for years but finally find
Others only have to go on line
The joy is in finding personel lives of each ancestor
Have you a sailor , farmer, tailor or even a jestor
I wish ou luck on your research of your tree
Its worth the while ,youll see
