Hi Scottsheat, thanks for your reply, the earliest I have is George Jackson from Sutton Coldfield, born approx 1792 who married I think a Mary Jones, one of their Children Thomas b1832, married a Betsy Stanaway, and it is they that moved to Darlaston, they had a son Thomas b approx 1856 married a Mary Winnington and one of their children - Samuel born 1878 married an Ethel Syson in 1898.They married and lived in Lincoln, Thomas his father moved to Gainsborough, Lincs,
i assume it was something to do with work - he was a lock filer and bolt forger whatever that was. I certainly wouln't fancy it, - it sounds like hard work!

Hi again

Looks like you are doing ok to me

On IGI ? :
George Jackson marries
Mary Jones
23rd Oct 1819 in Sutton Coldfield
Extracted record - ref:
M017353 - 1728 to 1837 - 0198733 - Film - Printout 6904252
There are a few children for this couple in Sutton Coldfield but no Thomas

Darlaston BMD's would have been registered in either Walsall or Wednesbury -

BIRTHS
Jun q 1855
Thomas
Registered in Walsall - volume 6b - page 523
or
Dec q 1858
Thomas - Walsall - 6b - 483

Lock filer/bolt forger means that he made locks & bolts (prob from iron)

The answer is out there - somewhere!

Hi Scottsheat, many thanks for your reply and help, it does look very promising, Thomas was born around 1855/56, in Darlaston, so I will try for that first and see where I get with the cert. Thanks for info on lock filer & bolt forger,it still sounds like hard work!
