If you check the IGI on the family search site you will find a John Smith - no mention of George b 26/2/1820 ch at St Mary, Newington on 15/6/1820. Parents are a Silas & Hannah Smitth. Is this the right person? You ill have to go back on the father's side as there is no mention of the Mother's surname. This is an extracted record so should be fairly reliable - BUT remember these have been transcribed and could have mistakes in them. If you can check the original from the parish records . Although the name Smith is common Silas isn't so you hopefully will find him. The Hugh Wallis site is also another site worth looking at.
