The Yates family lived in the Lower Darwen area of Lancashire and may also have lived in Yate & Pickup Bank.

James Yates born around 1880/1890 his wife was Alice

Elizabeth Yates born about 1819

I am looking for Robert Yates brn in Liverpool in 1847 and married Alice Woodall in Preston in 1866, I think his father was James C Yates and mother was Elizabeth Foster.
Do you have any information on any of these Yates's. I haven't been able to find much about them

My Yates family as far as I know were born in the Yate and Pickup Bank area of Darwen in Lancashire (near Balckburn) I will search through my information and if I find anything that may help you I will get back to you.

Thanks so much, I knwo Robert left england about 1869-1871 and came to the US. I can track the family here but not have much results before that.Robert shows up on UK census reports seversl times (once as a boarder at age 5)

I have two web site address for you which may be of some help, anything is worth a try.

www.lancslist.com this is a surname list & e.mail addresses have a look and maybe put your information on.

the other is a site for Lancashire Parish records, not all parishe have been transcribed as it is done by volunteers but woth a look at.

www.lan-opc.org.uk Preston has been transcribed ( I have just looked) it gives you 2 red roses .. but could be that all records are not on yet.

Thanks for the information, both sites were great with the info they produced bu not for me, this information would have answered so many questions and I know I have my information right to this point.
James Yates married Elizabeth Foster on March 26 1847 @ St John In Preston as did his son Robert marry Alice Woodall on Nov 11, 1866. Maybe it just has not be updated yet. I have been on this for so long and alway stuck at the same place.LOL

Keep going back to the parish records as they are slowly updating them, it's all done by volunteers.

Later tonight I will go through all my Yates info again and see if I can find anything for you. I will reply again tomorrow

I have searched through my Yates and only realy have one for certain and that's from a marriage certificate her name was Elizabeth Yates and she married Nathaniel Hunt. Elizabeth Yates parents were James & Alice Yates from the Darwen area.

Tonight I have searched my BRVI index and found a baptism of a Robert Yates


Robert Yates baptised at St. Clement Liverpool 9.3.1845

his parents were Elizabeth and James Yates FHL film 1468979

Also I searched for Roberts marriage and his parents marriage but found nothing, not all records have been transcribed.

This may not be your Robert but worth keeping the information.

Wow, the sure should right but gives me another question all my research information over the year told me Robert was born Oct 6,1847. All your information should right without a doubt though.HUM He was born in Liverpool according to his death cert.
according to LDSA and the dat is 10/06/47, that information could be wrong since it was given my a relative who know. I sent for a copy of James and Elizabeth's marriage cert and they sent back a note to contact the and ref to 12770, I have not be able to get through on the phone or their website.

I appreciate all you work and time trying to help me out with this.
