Default Williamson Walker Marriage 1818 Whitwick,

I have JOHN WILLIAMSON who married CATHERINE WALKER in 1818, Whitwick, Leics, but I cannot find their parents.

I found Catherine's possible baptism at St Botolph's Sibson in 1798, (IGI, LDS ) buit no parents were recorded.

This is my brick wall, so would appreciate more information on this couple.

Thanks !

Default Re: Williamson Walker Marriage 1818 Whitwick,

THANKS, I appreciate this. These marriages may well link with Catherine Walker somehow. I will keep digging !!!

I had wondered if John Williamson & Hannah were ever married. In the census of 1841 John is about 15 years old (probably nearer 20)

On the LDS website there are 3 Baptism records for John Williamson, with parents Catherine & John, one in the Methodist Chapel (1824) a second in 1825, at the parish church ................then they have another boy John Aaron baptised in 1827. Initially thought the first John must have died in infancy & the second was probably mine. HOWEVER in the 1841 census records both John AND Aaron are in the household (I wonder why Aaron was also named John ?)

I have had difficulty finding John in 1851, one possibility is married to Mary, but I'm not 100% convinced this is the right person. They had 2 children a 4 year old son William & a baby Maryann. I can't find a definite marriage for them either, or rather there are too many possibilities.

The 1861 census has John with Hannah for the first time. Their children are Mary Anne age 7 (is this the Maryann from 1851 I wonder ? Doubtful) Jonathan age 3 (my relative) and Catherine age 4 months. I sent for Catherine's cert as I cannot find Jonathan's birth record. The only one in Leics is in 1861, after Catherine. There is a poss. baptism in Belper, Derbys in 1854, I've debated whether to send for the cert, just to see if this is mine, but decided against it for the time being (finances being very tight !).

I just seem to be going round & round in circles ! I wondered if Mary Ann & Jonathan were Hannah's children from a previous marriage, I doubt that, as Jonathan is a Williamson family name that crops up in every generation. Was his mother Mary ? But why was he not registered ? His sister Catherine WAS registered in 1860. Then there's Mary Anne ?

As for John's possible "first Wife" Mary. There are several possible deaths for her after the 1851 census .......

Sorry to bore you to death - but without knowing the identity of Jonathan's mother, I'm pretty much stuck ! Any ideas ?

Hi Justanne,

May have found what your looking for,

(1) John Aaron - There's a possibility that either John 1824 or 1825 was ill and not expected to live so they so they gave the name to another son, this happened quite a lot.

(2)
Marriage

Jonathon Williamson March Qtr 1852 Nantwich 8A 358
This is outside of the area that you are looking at, but is the only one I can find either before Mary Ann's birth or after. It may be worthwhile sending for certificate to verify.

Births

Mary Ann Williamson March Qtr 1854 Ashby 7A 103

Jonathon Williamson Dec Qtr 1857 Ashby-de-la-Zouch 7A 94

Catherine Williamson Dec Qtr 1860 Ashby-de-la-Zouch 7A 95
Again you will need certificate's to verify.

Regard's John and Mary I would assume for the time being that this is another John.

Let me know how you get on.

Good Luck
