Thread: Turnbull / Langford in South Shields

I am researching the life of my step-grandfather MARK TURNBULL (born MARK LANGFORD) born 1876 in Jarrow, South Shields.
He left the area in around 1900 when he ran away to sea and changed his name from LANGFORD to TURNBULL. He may have used the official papers of another man to enable him to join a ship.
I don’t fully know his reason for leaving.
If this ties in with anything anyone else is researching I should be really grateful to hear from you.
