Default Smiths...yes Smiths

I have a large family of Smiths from Stanton in Staffordshire but later spread far and wide. I also have another line of Smiths on my tree from Swinscoe, Staffordshire. As yet they don't link to the other Smiths. Plus....yes yet another family of Smiths descend on my tree. This branch is from Mayfield Staffordshire.

And if that wasn't bad enough My main line of Smiths (From Stanton) married into Jones from Ashbourne, Derbyshire. How blessed am I

Charles Smith married Mary Ann Ellen Jones and moved to Manchester and raised thier family in the Cheetham Hill area of Manchester. These are my g-g-grandparents

You haven`t come across THOMAS SMITH b. abt. 1820-1830 married JANE DOUGLAS before 1858/9 & had a daughter MARY SMITH b. 1858/9 somewhere in ENGLAND, have you? He was listed as a TAILOR/ TAILOR JOURNEYMAN on MARY`s marriage reg. in Scotland. She was a visitor in GLASGOW on the 1881 census, birth place ENGLAND. Big help!!
Thanks,
maggiem

No sorry Maggiem I haven't come across them but am willing to help you if I can. Have you found Mary on any other census or just the 1881. Will gladly try and find her on the others if you want. Just let me know.

Have you found mary on later census (1891 or 1901) when married??

Smiths are a complete nightmare but not impossible so keep your chin up

All the best
Angela

Hi Angela,
Hope this is the right way to reply, just joined.
I found her on the 1891 census & it says born ENGLAND.
Haven`t located her on the 1901 census, so if you can find her & it tells you more, that would be wonderful.
I ahve her death reg. but it just says b. ENGLAND. Drat!!!
Thanks,
Maggiem
