hi, i am currently trying to find out as much as i can about an edward south born in sheffield on 26th october 1884, fathers name john henry south, mothers name charlotte south formerly wilson, all i have is a copy of a birth certificate dated 9th january 1915, which was done for military purposes only, this was sent to me by my cousin in canada, who would like to find out as much as possible about these people as they are his grandparents but they know nothing other than what is on this certificate.
I have tried ancestry.com and genes reunited but nothing comes up am currently trying other sites to see what comes up.
Hopefully someone can help me as i have come to a dead end on searching, i am quite new at this and not sure what sites i can find or which are the best ones to go for.
any help would be appreciated,

Maybe Charlotte remarried after Johns death, This could be the reason for not being able to find Them on the 1891 census, possibly listed under Charlottes new husbands name.

Have found the following on 1837 online so if the above Charlotte is yours, it would appear that she married Christopher

edward south was born on 26 october 1884 so would of been about 18 months to 2 years old when john henry south died but cant seem to find them on a census anywhere but the first one looks promising if right did not know he had a daughter

Edward is listed as Edward South darwin
a pretty sure bet this is your family

one way of confirmation is to purchase charlottes marriage cert to Christopher
but im convinced these are the right ones

thanks for all your help will have to get back to the family in canada and find out exactly what he knows so that i can go any further

if this edward darwin (south) married an edith marsh and had a son called edward south then it is the right one, trouble is we dont know when they got married or when the son was born, all i have is a birth certificate dated 1915 for military purposes only, which would of made him about 30 years old, was he married then, if he was his wife would of been about 28 years old.
