Thanks, I will have a look, but our name is Steggel, without the S on the end, all from the same source, not sure when they diverged, seems to be when one of the ancestors moved across the border into the wilds of Essex

Hi Peter,

As you will see the name has some with the s and without plus earlier with variations to it, always best to check mistrancibed too. Wish you luck on your research.

Thank you very much, most of the variations of Steggel, are from Suffolk, and Norfolk, ours seems to be only found in Essex, we believe (my cousin and I) that somewhere along the line, sombody emigrated to Essex and a clerk changed it for him, what with a different accent and all, she lives in Norfolk and is traipsing around all over the place trying to figure it out, we will get to the bottom of it, I am sure but thanks for your good wishes.
