Hi,
I'm currently investigating my STONE ancestors who seem to come from good old Essex stock. I have got back to Charles Stone born 22/10/1788 and christened 16/5/1790 in Hockley whose parents were Thomas and Elizabeth. Now for my problem - my notes say that I got Charles' birth date from his certificate. Well I don't have one and they didn't start until later than that anyway! My notes also say that I got the christening date from IGI and that a Mary Stone was christened same place & date. I have rechecked IGI and that info is true - but I don't like to rely on IGI without at least one other source. I also have a note that Charles married a Mary Taylor and had at least 4 children - Thomas (my ancestor and born 1823 in Hockley), Eliza b 1826, Sarah b 1831 and Elizabeth b 1833. I haven't made a note of the source for these but from the way its worded its probably from the parish records. There may be nothing for it but to go back to the parish records and go through the microfiche again but if anyone can throw any light on Charles (and Mary) Stone I'd be grateful. Jean Lesson for me - make much clearer notes about my sources!! |
