corrections and additions in blue.
my greatest interests are in my 4x great grandmother, Elizabeth Richards who married in Colchester to Joseph Cross on 28 Jun 1778. her parents and ancestry are unknown to me, but I have a possible clue in the names of some of her children. 3 of her 15 children have middle names. they are Mary Richards Cross, Hezekiah Richards Cross, and John Wainwright Cross. I have succeeded in finding some interesting possible connections with a Hezekiah Richards of Colchester. another son of Elizabeth's, Joseph Cross, Jr., baptised his children in the Wesleyan Methodist church on the same day as a Hezekiah Richards baptised his children. I traced Hezekiah's lineage into Lawford, Essex, and I think that he and Elizabeth may be cousins or siblings. unfortunately, I have no access to Lawford PR's at this time...and I understand they may have gone to Manningtree and I also don't have access to Manningtree records at this time...however, I do have a fair amount on the Colchester Richards connected to this family if you are seeking them.
Elizabeth Richards Cross shows up in 1841 Colchester. She is listed with two spinster daughters, Hannah Cross and Mary Richards Cross. Joseph Cross, Jr. is also with her, though where his family is is a source of puzzlement. living next door is an Elizabeth Ladbroke, of the right age to have been Hezekiah Richard's mother in law. Hezekiah Richards, II married an Elizabeth Ledbrook, but I don't know who her parents were. Elizabeth Cross died in 1842, and I have her death certificate. unfortunately I haven't been able to find anything else about her, however, I am awaiting a reply from Chelmsford R.O. which hopefully will end the puzzle she has been to me.
