Hi I am looking for info on the mellors, - Sam Mellor b.1849 in Rotheram S. Yorks, later Conisbrough S. Yorks his parents were a William Mellor and a Mary Aldred , Sam married an Emma Wood in 1873?

Maybe someone else can check 1891 cencus for you, to see if they are still at this address

Hi Nanna, and thankyou for your reply and the info on the 1881 census. I did look a while ago on the 1901 census, and I think the name must have been mis-transcribed. I have recently received a marriage cert which seems to fit the bill, but that is for a Samuel Miller! it sometimes makes you wonder about these names, you think you have checked all the ways it could be mis-transcribed then you find another one .

it has the same on my mums marriage cert shes down as may miller when her name is ada mellor,my mellors come from liverpool and manchester,cheshire quite afew samuels

Hi there, and thanks for your reply, you are quite right I have found it transcribed on a site as Miller rather than Mellor.These Mellor's came from southYorks. first Rotheram and then Conisbrough nr Doncaster, but thanks for your reply. one of these days....
