Default McManus/McCabe

I am looking for info on my McManus /McCabe family. the original area settled after they left Ireland in 1848 was Lafayette Co, Wisconsin.

This is what I know:

NOTHING about Ellen McCabe except she was born in Ireland 1-14-1890 and died in Nebraska at the age of 48 yrs 4 mo and 29 days... I know nothing else of her family...

In 1848 (possibly John came in 1846) John b. 1817? and Elizabeth b. 1810? McManus came with their family (Jane b 1842 ?m. Charles Andrew 1859; John b. 1844 m. Ellen McCabe 1863; James b. 1846; Patrick b. 1847) to America. They crossed the sea in a sailboat, and were on the water for eleven long weeks and three days, embarking at Liverpool and landing at New Orleans, thence up the Mississippi river to Galena, Illinois. They settled in Lafayette, Wisconsin. They then had Elizabeth b. 1849: Charles b. 1852: Mary b. 1854. . Also on the ship (Thornhill) was a Mary McManus (age 21 at the time) and an Elizabeth McManus (age20 at the time).

Name was misspelled McMannis, McManis, Manus, McMannus, McManiss, Mcmanus, Mc Manus, Mcmanas, Mcmanan, McManns. These are some of the variations I have found.

The only one I know that moved from Wi is:
My gg Grandpa John McManus married Ellen McCabe in 1863, the ceremony taking place at Benton, Wisconsin. In about 1870, they moved to Dixon Co., NE and raised Nine children. They are named as follows: Mary Ellen b. 1-1866 Wi, William Henry, deceased b. 1868 Wi buried WI??; William Emmet b. 1869 Wi, Elizabeth Ann b. 8-1869 Ne, George Charles b. 9-1874 Ne., John Henry b.1877 Ne, Cecelia b. 6-1880 Ne , Joseph Albert b. 1883 Ne.; and Clara b. 1886 Ne,

If anyone knows anything about the original McManus' I would love to hear from you....

Thanks

Gina
