Tried for years and years to find the death of Joseph James MINETT.
He was born in Islington Middlesex, UK 19th September 1855. He married Eleanor Sears ROBINSON in 1877 in Islington. In the 1891 Census Joseph is on his own in Cornelia Street, Islington, and Eleanor is with two of the children at Joseph's parents. Come the 1901 census, Eleanor is on her own under her own means, (She was left everything when Joseph's father died in 1896) Joseph is nowhere to be seen. When the daughter Sophia married in 1902, her marriage certificate says Joseph is deceased, however hunt as we may, NO DEATH has been recorded anywhere. I have searched the Passengers Lists, Prisons, Workhouses, Passports, Been in touch with Scotland Yard Archives, Old Bailey Courts, Hoping to get to Collingdale Newspaper Archives some time this year, but that could take months to read all the paper between 1891 and 1901 to see if he committed some dis-demeanour to cause a marriage split, yet in 1901, Eleanor is down as married not a widow..... but that could be transcriber error. Not found her as a second marriage. She is buried at Kingston, Surrey, and only she (in 1938) and her son (1962), my grandfather are in the plot. According to the cemetery records. So where is this elusive butterfly of mine??????? Anyone got any ideas please.......... ![]() |
