Hi there
My Fegan line comes from Clonduff, Co Down. This parish is centred on Hilltown in the Mountains of Mourne or very close to them. I assume the Loughlins were from close by. Hugh Fegan b 1818ish and Mary Loughlin left there in 1838, and had a child in the Isle of Man and later settled in Devon, eventually running an outfitters in Union Street, Torquay. His father's name was Henry who was a farmer. I learnt this from Hugh's second marriage to Mary O'Hare. I know nothing of the Loughlins I am endeavouring to pinpoint Henry in Ireland, and any info about their time in the Isle of Man. There are other Fegans in Devon and a seperate Loughlin family was also in Devon, which spent some four years in the Isle of Man en route. Any assistance will be welcome Mark F |
