Hello, I'm new to this but my mothers maiden name is Fellows and as far as I can see the family lived at the Stream cottages in Guestling for generations. Mum's name is Margaret her father was Herbert married to Evelyn nee Cole and his father was Alfred. We moved away in the sixties but still return and have fond memories of the area.

Hello again, Yes William and Mary were my earliest ancestors that I knew about although it seems clear that my ancestors may have lived in the cottages known as stream cottages since the 1600's. Do you know this area of Sussex or are you exploring these links from NZ? I was born in the thatched cottages and enjoyed a sussex childhood. I have photo's of the area and the cottages if you are interested?
One of the strangest experiences was reading about the Maitland (Do you know about this ship).... you can find about it on the web...which carried poor people and Richard Fellow's family was one of them ...from the East Sussex area to Australia. Many of the people on board contracted disease and the ship was moored in Watson's Bay Sydney inb quarantine. I only found this out after we returned from a holiday to Aus and remebered that we sat at Doyles on Watson's bay enjoying some of the very best of food just 18m ago. bye for now Keith hopewell |
