Looking for my Firth ancestors near Selby, Yorkshire. My great grandmother was Anne (Ann/Annie) Elizabeth Firth, born/christened 30 April 1853. Death record and 1871 Census information list Selby, Yorkshire as place of birth. The 1871 Census data records her as living in Chorlton-upon-Medlock, (part of modern day Manchester, Lancashire) under the name Werner and lists her age as 21 years, this age may be over stated. I do not know the names of her parents or siblings. She immigrated to Colorado, USA in 1872/1873, along with her infant daughter Annie Elizabeth Firth/Werner, born April, 1871 in Chorlton-upon-Medlock and her husband, Maximilian Edward Werner, a naturalized British citizen born in Hildesheim, Germany 6 October 1836. I can not find a civil marriage record for a Werner/Firth. This has been a frustrating search with no results so far. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
