The earliest Flewers I have been able to find were in East London in the late 1700s working mainly as brickmakers and dock labourers. They are often badly mis-transcribed (Flowers is quite common) so I would be very grateful for the details if anyone spots one during their research.
Several family members believe that the Flewers were Huguenots or Walloons but I have found no evidence of this. Where did they come from? I would love to know more. If you have a FLEWERS in your tree please come and join our small group of Flewers researchers at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Flewers/ We have pooled our resources and now have quite an extensive database.
