Seeking Faversham COOMBERs with occupation of "Coopers".

May have connection with gunpowder and or Brewery trades.
Any info would be welcome.

Coopers were barrel makers. Traditionally they made barrels for wine or beer. Often they were also trained as carpenters as well.

Probably you already know from the 1871 Census return that Robert Coomber, then aged 53, was a cooper working in one of Faversham's three gunpowder factories, and that he was living in Ospringe Road, Faversham, when he died in 1886, aged 68.

I would like info of anyone who has connections with the Coomber name
in the Faversham area.Particular names of interest are Cox-Inge-Martin.

There are several generations of family related persons in my tree who were Coopers by trade.

I have plenty of info that I can supply if anyone has interests.
