Hello,
I'm rather a novice at doing research, but have the notes my aunt gave me from what she'd found. We've tracked our family back to a John Bynum who lived in the Isle of Wight in Virginia. His name was originally Baynham, but due to record keepers who spelled based on sound and relatives who didn't know how their name was actually spelled, the name was misspelled several different ways before finally settling on Bynum. He was born in 1616 in England or possibly Wales and came to the USA in the mid 1600's where he settled in Surry County, Isle of Wight, Virginia. There was another John Baynham who settled in Jamestown, Virginia but it's not the same guy. The Jamestown Baynham was older. The problem I have run into is where to look back past that. I want to find the line in the UK but have gotten rather stuck. I plan to look through the help topics and such, but don't have a lot of time to surf online as I work two jobs and own a horse. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Ann |
