Hi MaggieM

Elizabeth Bushby (1883-1966) was my Grandmother from Brighton (Sussex).
Descended from John Bushby / Rosina Trott
Levi (George) Bushby/ Eliza Iles
Robert Bushby/ Mary Tate.

I thought we had been in contact previously - however, I can't find you in my EMail address book - so maybe I am mistaken?

Which branch do you come from ??

Regards David

Hi David,
Maybe we have been in touch before, didn`t ring a bell when I found your post though. I am descended from Charles Bushby & Jane nee Pelling. My mother was Essie Bushby b. Launceston.

Hi Maggie.

Am I correct that your mother was Essie Martha Bushby (1915) who married William Henderson??
If so, then we are very distant cousins ( Half 4th cousins x1 removed)

I have quite a wealth of information on the amazing Bushby families - gleaned from various sources.

Hello,
I am trying to find out if John Bushby bn abt 1707 - 1708 Patching is the son of Robert Bushby and Mary Ann Evershed. I believe that this John married a Sarah Knowles and their son Robert Bushby bn 1755 Lyminster married Hannah Wilmar. Robert and Hannah's son Charles i believe married Ann ? and had a son Charles bn abt 1813. Charles and Ann had a son George bn 1813. George married Matilda Funnell and their son Henry was bn abt 1844 West Tarring.
I am wondering if any one has any information that can help me confirm this.
Thankyou in advance and good luck with your research.

Hi Lindee,
I have John Bushby born 1707 son of Robart Bushby & Mary Ann Evershed.
I am descended from John`s brother Francis born1710 who married Sarah Tribe.
I also have the children of John & Sarah-
Elizabeth b. 1741, John b. 1746, Ann b. 1748, Robert b. 1755 Lyminster, d. 1823 Ferring. He married Hannah Wilmer b. c. 1760.
Lastly Charles b. 1759.
That is all the information I have on any of the children of this marriage, so if you can add to that I wouold appreciate it.
The source of the details for John is- LDS # 1985248
Where exactly do you fit in to the BUSHBY family?

Hi Maggiem,
Thankyou for the reply and nice to meet you. My mother in laws grandmother was a Louisa Bushby (Louie) daughter of Henry Bushby bn 1844 West Tarring and Charlotte Devening. My mother in laws father had handed down, hand written notes and stories on the Bushby family but somewhere along the line there was some confusion and the family here were lead to believe that our Bushby line descended from your Francis and Sarah, however I now believe that we descend from Francis's brother John bn 1707 . Such a confusing lot the Bushby's all naming their children the same for generations, I imagine they would be laughing at us lot trying to figure it all out!!
I have a few old Bushby family photos as well as some old family stories if you are interested. I have been working on putting together a booklet for my mother in laws birthday on her Bushby family, so its great to meet other researchers and hopefully put it all together. We are in Australia where abouts are you?
Kind regards
Lindee

Hi Lindee,
Well, what do you know! I too am in Australia, so we are almost neighbours!!
What area of Oz do you live in, what state or city? I am in Tassie these days, although I wasn`t originally from here. Been living here for about 4 years.
I would love any photos or documents etc you have & that you are willing to share. I am happy to do likewise, if I have anything that is of interest to you.
How wide-sweeping is your Bushby research, just your line or any & all? I happily chase up the lot. I have Bushby`s in my file from UK, USA, Canada, Australia, South Africa (connections) & New Zealand. I think I may even have one or two nomads who wandered into Europe & Asia.
Do you know, on looking at my Bushby file, I don`t have a Henry born 1844, no Charlotte Devening & no Louisa! So, come on, out with it! Where does all that fit into the line? You mentioned Robaert Bushby & Hannah Wilmer. I have these two, but nothing from there onwards, so I assume that is what is missing re your Henry & co?
I am descended through Francis Bushby & Sarah Tribe. Their son Robert married Frances Goodyer 1778 in West Sussex.Their son William married Sarah Young & they are the parents of the two lots of Bushbys who emigrated to Tasmania. George & Mary Bushby nee Streeter & Charles & Jane Bushby nee Pelling, from whom I descend.
Love to hear more re your connection.
