Hi Linda, sorry to be late with a reply, I've been to Italy on holiday, just got back last night. Do you have any more details of your Barnes? I have a Thomas Barnes born abt 1810, buried 26 October 1862 Gedney Marsh, Lincs. He was married to Elizabeth. They had a daughter also Elizabeth born 16 March 1823. I have a little more detail than this but otherwise I'm stuck.

Hello, my relative Elizabeth Barnes was born 16th March 1823 in March Cambridgeshire and married George Meace. Her parents were Thomas Barnes Abt. 1810 in Gedney Lincs, wife was Elizabeth. I've been unable to find out anything else so far as I was concentrating on other lines.

Hi Cassie
I think my Barnes will be too early to find a connection to your Thomas of gedney I did however find a good list of barne's in Gedney records in IGI that may be possible siblings -follow the link below and select the county & village then you can put in the surname or just subit with no name & scroll through the names list. I also think you should be looking around 1800-1805 at the latest as I doubt Thomas was born in 1810 if his daughter was born in 1823 - just a bit too close. You can also switch back and do a general or advanced search by using blue search tabs at top of page which may bring up cencus & marriages -hope this is helpful...I will let you know when/if I find anything else in my records Cheers Joanofacre IGI Batch Numbers Last edited by Starlight; 16-11-2008 at 01:44 AM. |

Hi, heck I never noticed that! I added those details years ago, perhaps I typed it wrong, will go and check that out. Thanks for pointing it out, I'm surprised it didn't notice it as I've had this hobby so many years. There was a story in my family (and it even went to America with some branches) that my Barnes family were well off, it persisted for many many years. Though I checked carefully there was nothing at all to prove it. It got me sidetracked for a good few years as I have letters which have survived from my great grandfather talking about this. All very interesting but seems not true.
Thanks again Cassie |

Hi Cassie
I have just looked in a family tree which is dedicated to fens & lincolnshire families by Jacky Clark and found a Thomas Barnes b1877 Gedney Marsh he may be a good candidate for a great grandson for your Thomas Barnes It may be worth checking out this site a bit more as there is a big list of lincolnshire Barn/es you may get lucky - here is the link http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-...nks&id=I125079 Good Luck Joan of acre ![]() |
