Thread: Bynon, Byning, Bynin.

I have a gt gt grandfather with a variety of spellings for his surname.
His first name was John. His surname has had various spellings but i use the one from his marriage cert of 1853 in Australia, BYNON.
Over the years it has been written as BYNIN, BYNING, BYNAN.
He would have been born c 1833 going on age at marriage. I have no idea of where he came from or when. He must have arrived in Australia before 1853 as he married here. in Tasmania.( spouse Catherine Murphy)
I did find a John Bynon of the right age from Pembroke, Wales on the IGI.
I cannot find any record of John leaving England or arriving in Australia.
There was an old story of him being related to a Lord and being sent to Australia in disgrace, but there are many such stories and usually false.
Any help much appreciated. This has been my worst dead end for many years.
