Thank you for the advice re my Edwards/Williams mix up. I finally woke up also. I think I have gone as far as I can before taking the next step of ordering certificates. The last bit to seem to fall in place is the following referring to Marion Richards B 16 Sep 1909, grand daughter of James Richards but of (as yet) unknown parentage. I have it from a gent who met her through her youngest uncle (Risden Richards B 1902 - probably raised as 'siblings') that she was known as Marie. He pronounced it as 'Maary' rhyming with 'Stary', as in stary night'. Knowing she was mentioned as Marion Farmer in Risden's will, I have discovered the following: Horace W Farmer and Marie Richards married Cannock, Staffordshire 1930, JFM 6B 651. Horace William Farmer, 5 Oct 1905; death recorded Cannock Chase, Staffordshire Aug 1986, 30 256 886. 81 years. Marie Farmer, 16 Sep 1909; death recorded South Staffordshire, Staffordshire Sep 1998, 7344 16 185 998. 89 years. A search of birth records; Farmer, maiden name Richards threw up a surprising number of possibilities. Some time back I purchased Risden's death certificate hoping for a lead to children or grandchildren and confirmation of parents. In Australia death certificates name spouse, off spring and parents (if known). I was disappointed but very lucky that the informant was his neighbour; a close friend who was happy to help with my queries, otherwise it could have been a definite dead end. I made headway in UK based on information listed on Australian death certificates relating to birth places and (fortunately) occupations relating to former lives in England (in this case 'Gamekeeper') which led to Moses Meddings and my grandfather, Raymond Richards, being found as gamekeepers on Hilton Park in 1911. Why they left for Australia and Raymond later claimed Australia as his birth place, and never mentioned his family, other than to admit to one sibling out of nine, and claim his parents, (correct names) 'Came from Staffordshire' is an ongoing mystery. The extended family must have been sizable. I live in hope of an answer. Regards, Laurie Richards, Australia
