From the FreeBMD website this is a possibility for your Phillips/Cooke marriage:

Marriage June Quarter 1839
Margaret Phillips & listed on the same page Joseph Cooke
District: Shrewsbury
Volume: 11b
Page: 283

Of course, without checking the full details you cannot assume that this is "your" couple.

Hi Cher

Birth before marriage was not uncommon, in fact it happened many many times. So, don't rule out anyone just because there's a possible birth before the marriage ceremony............

I read an article about this topic, and it stated that in the 1800's men liked to see whether their future wife-to-be could give them children, before committing to marriage. I have several instances of this in my family tree.

Searching for this Welsh lot: Jones, Challinor, Trow, Mills, Simon, Jenkins, James, Lewis, Owen, Lloyd, Davies, Evans....and not a Smith in sight

and the English families:
Challenor/Challinor, Beaton/Betton

Come out, come out, wherever you are!
