Thread: gillies in scotland

Hi everyone

I am trying to find info on Neil Gillies born May 12 1833 Portnahaven, Argyl.He Married Betty/Betsy Carmichael Jan 26 1858.She sometimes shows up as Elizabeth. His parents are listed as John Gillies and Janet Anderson and I have found a marriage record (on igi) for them Apr 14 1825 in Paisley, Renfrew. There is some debate as to Neils mother as she is listed as Ann Anderson on Neils death cert. I think I have found the family on 1841 scotland census parents John and Janet.

Any info would be great as we would like to prove we are on the right track.

Yes I had foundthem on 1841 and as you say Neil's b/date isnt a match, but all the other kids match, NK is Angus found that after post.

Neil Patterson Gillies 6 April 1938 death, I will note as at this stage dont know if it fits in as we have very very little to start with.
