A place called Urquhart and Logie Wester comes under Ross and cromarty.

From the 1841 census, husband and wife are both 50, so these are potential births for Mary. All born in Urquhart & Logie

Sorry Brian and Lola I've got it wrong my Alexander is the one in 1841 in Elgin Moray I know its the right one because my link is his daughter Janet (Jessie) she's 1 in 41 and I know her father was a Distiller. It seems they was born in Urquhart though, as were some of the children. Sorry about that hope you can still help.

I am confused! I have looked at the 1841 census for Elgin, and there are no 50 year old Alexander Urquhart's . There ages are 12, 25, 45 and 65.
The 45 year old, is a the distiller, along with his wife 40, children including Janet aged 1.
If , as you believe your family were born in Urquhart & Logie Wester , why do you think the birth for Alexander I have suggested is wrong? The same applies for Mary? These are all records from Urquhart & Logie Wester within the right period.
However if Alexander was 45 in 1841, the there are some alternative births from the region.

Yeah sorry again should have said he's down as 45, no I don't think your suggestions for the births you sent are wrong, I was just saying I got it wrong for where they lived it was Elgin not Urquhart. I'm just making it more confusing sorry, but then they did get about Janet or Jessie married Reuben Purves in Ireland thats how I got her fathers name, I've know idea what she was doing there because they end up back in England. Reuben was born in Scotland as well but I cant find where. I'm going to check out all the births.

Yes Reuben was born abt 1841 in Scotland not been able to find his birth anywhere. His parents were James and Margaret, I have them on the census in England in 51 where he is James but in 61 is as Reuben, in 41 they are in Scotland and he's James. So he's proving a pain as well because the census dont give any indication where in Scotland.
