Thread: Geoge Gordon Mackinnon Fortrose Ross-Shire 1817?

George Gordon Mackinnon was the Contractor for Mails for Ross-shire and Inverness and he would have been born around 1817. He had a son John Gordon Mackinnon, born 1837, who after a military career, became the first national secretary of the Master Bakers Assication in Birmingham. I am looking for any further family data for G.G.Mackinnon. I know the branch from J.G onwards. I want to look further back. Any ideas on where information can be had?

George Gordon MacKinnon was father to Mary McKinnon who migrated to Australia c1853. George Gordon was born 1806 and married Barbara McBain in 1831. GG's parents were Donald McKinnon & Elizabeth Campell.

My grgrgr grandmother was Mary McKinnon born Fortrose c 1831 died Melbourne Aus in 1917. Details from her mc state Mary was a daughter of George Gordon McKinnon and Barbara McBain. George & Barbara married in Rosemarkie 28 January 1831-from OPR Banns & Marriages search. Census records show ~8 children with the youngest Johanna born 1848 according to IGI. We have been tracking each of Mary's sibblings and have limited details for John Gordon McKinnon- interested in any information you are able to share?
