Thread: Phillipp Spatz and accessing German Geneology Records

Hi I am trying to find records for Phillipp Spatz, born 1st July 1915(?) and passed away circa 1988 in Maxdorf, Mannheim, Germany. Phillipp, we believe was captured in Guernsey in 1944/45 and was a POW we think. We know he married Jeanie Grant Ritchie in Denbighshire in 1952 then her best friend :-(, Sophia Jones in 1975. Looks like there is a record for Sophia Spatz (nee Jones) died in 1984 in Frankfurt (possibly) according to records of British Citizens who died abroad.
Another probable marriage is with Karollna or Karolina Spatz (nee Mock) whereby a son was born on 14^th September 1942 – so said son would be 70 this year if still alive.

We have hit a brick wall with the Spatz side of the family and would be looking for information on Willhelm Spatz who was Phillipp's father according to the marriage certificate of Jeannie Ritchie.

Does anyone know if there is any decent access to german geneology? Thanks in advance and any help guidance would be very much appreciated.
