Thread: Polish relatives

Has anyone had experience of tracing relatives in Poland please? My grandfather was killed in the Warsaw uprising (1944) as well as two uncles (supposedly executed Dachau but I have a feeling could have been in the Wola district of Warsaw). Grandmother died 'of a broken heart' 1945. I don't speak Polish and have lost contact with living relatives still there.

Have you tried putting polish genealogy into a google search. One of the sites that comes up will lead you to JRI-Poland(or just search Google for this site).
Also try the LDS site(family search).

Thanks Lola5. My family were RC so I don't think JRI would be of help but googling Polish genealogy was a great help. I should have thought about the LDS site myself. My late mother in law was LDS and found her family back to the 1600's. Plenty to do now in the cold dark evenings.

Of course most/many Poles were RC. I wasn't thinking clearly. All the ones I have known have been Rc's.
