Thread: Stanley Gillian info needed

Looking for Surname Gillian Stanley was my Grandfather but cannot find out any info Father was William and Mother Margaret I think he had a sister Moira there where more children but unknown to us can anyone help

I'm not quite sure what info you have already, but have found the following:

Stanley Gillian married Ivy F Bassett June Qtr 1930 Fulham 1A 896
One child found so far i.e
Grace B Gillian (Bassett) December Qtr 1930 Chelsea 1A 463
(BM&Ds checked between 1930 -1940)
A copy of the marriage certificate will confirm Stanleys Fathers name, this can be applied for at certificate.services@ons.gov.uk and will cost £7.00 with the ref number shown above.

A Possible Death for Stanley Gillian
Registered October 1987 Vol 15 Page 1222 Reg No. 1087 D.O.B 24/10/1909
You may also like to apply for this certificate as it will show the name of the informant (possibly a child of the deceased) on the same link as above.

Thanks for that I do have his death certificate and also marriage certificate but his father was mentioned as deceased. Birth certificate we don't have and I can't find him being born anywhere so afraid that isn;t an option. When he was alive he always said that his birth certificate was destroyed but thankyou I will look into Patrick and see what I come up with thanks so much for your help found alot more than I managed.

cant find his birth reg . wonder if stanley is a middle name that was always used and he was registered with different first name

Well the info on his death cert is probably the information we provided when he died. His nickname was Butch. On my mum and dad's marriage cert he is Stanley but then suppose that doesn't mean much. The only clue we had to think this was a first name was that his sister Moira died in Chelsea around 1960-1970 (of which I can find no info either not even a death and my mum was positive she never married) and the police contacted him. I know he didn't have much to do with his family which is why I am finding it difficult to get a link.

I can't wait at the moment to get home and research Patrick perhaps he could be the missing link.
