Thread: Hamiltons from Paisley

I've tried to copy and paste a post I put in Brickwalls but it didn't work. My paternal grandfather was Arnott Hamilton, born 22.11 1893, he married Jean Lyon, born 3.1.1897, on 14.4.1915. I believe they both came from Paisley and I know he fought in WW1 but could find nothing about him on WW1 sites. I think he was injured and may have been invalided out. I have my grandmother's family tree but can't find anything about Arnott Htamilton's family at all. I do hope someone has some information, my maternal family tree is well documented, this is the last bit of the tree I want to find.

Do you have a copy of your Grandparents marriage certificate as it should tell you the Christian/first name of your Gt Grandfather Hamilton and his profession at the time of marriage? It may also state deceased under his name..

The marriage on Scotlands People shows Robert Arnott Hamilton married Jean Lyon

I have found Jean Murray Lyon year 1915 married Robert Arnott Hamilton district Paisley. Jean is aged 18 years at the time of marriage and her Father was John Lyon a coal merchant. Mothers maiden name Margaret Lowe. Robert was the son of William Hamilton and Jean White Hamilton..Witnesses were George Gardiner Young and (Mary Smith Glelland?) Marriage Registered 15th April 1915 at Paisley according to the rites of the Church Of Scotland ..After Banns. Married on the 14th day of April..Robert gives his address as being Crossflat Crescent Paisley and his age being 21 years..Jean gives her address Williams Burgh Paisley..Robert is recorded as being Bachelor and Jean recorded as being Spinster.Roberts profession a little hard to read but is the same as his Fathers..Dyer ?
