Thread: McNaught family, Paisley Renfrewshire

Im looking for anyone who may be related to the McNaughts from Paisley, Renfrewshire. So far I have traced back to 1816 to the birth of John McNaught who married Margaret Wylie c1816 Paisley (year of marriage unknown).



I have found John McNaughts 'possible' parents (still very unconfirmed at this stage but are close matches) - John McNaught and Ann Killoch (married c1810).



Anyone else researching this line? If so, would love to hear from you.

My husband's ancestors are from Paisley. I believe that his great great grandparents were John McNaught and Margaret Wylie. They had five children: Robert (b. 1845), Elizabeth (b. 1848), Alexander (b. 1851), Margaret (b. 1853) and Andrew (b. 1855). Alexander was my husband's great grandfather. He married Jane Reid in Paisley in 1875. He immigrated to the US in 1885 with his family which included my husband's grandfather, John and his sister Jane/Jennie. They had two more children in Westbook, Maine before settling in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. I haven't had any luck tracing the siblings who were left behind in Scotland but I am interested in finding out if there are any descendents in Scotland today.

My g.g.g. grandparents were John McNaught & Ann Killoch whose children were Margaret (1811), Agnes (1812), Robert (1813), Janet (1814) James (1815), John (1817), Ann (1818) & Jane (1823). My great great grandfather was James (1815-1863) but so far I've little information of his siblings.
