So that's why you wanted all our names
I could have added more To make the job much harder If only I'd know before. I've a Quirrie, Laird and Brown and Short Sanders, Tarry and Cook Not to mention all those Desboroughs I've now got in my book. And just might have a Pinard Pendridge, Pendrick or Pendreigh And that mad Dolly Pentreath Oh how I'd love her in my tree ! So keep it going Shan my mate We've all got loads of names To keep you occupied And keep you off those arcade games WRITTEN BY MARY (PETAL) |

That's brilliant , Shan - you're a genius , that's clear
To be able to think of such a clever idea ! And to write a fine verse , at the drop of a hat From a long list if names - well , how skilful is that ! And that is my rhyming all done for today Now that I've said what I came here to say. WRITTEN BY ANNY |

Shan, is gifted with heart and mind
By creating her own one-of-a-kind A most rare work of family names Enshrined forever in the hall of fame But names alone are lost in space, Hence these names shall have a place They are rich, deserving of a bounty Therefore to each I give a County Northumberlands a name ever so grand Shetland and Sutherland can join the band Westmoreland alone, now that will not do? Cumberland and Rutland belong in there too! Buckinghamshire, Berkshire is two of the Bs Bedfordshire adequately making up the three Cambridgeshire, Cheshire and Cornwall Thoroughbreds of England I recall Derbyshire and Dorset so pleasant in June Durhams the place to whistle a tune Devon is beautiful with its peaks and the moors Almost surrounded by water of course Essex and Gloucestershire are two on their own Both with a history, thats becoming well known Norfolk with flat lands that run to the sea The capitol of Englands in Middlesex I see Im afraid Huntingdon is not widely known Except for its farming or the crops that are sown Flowers and fruit are Hertfordshires goods Along with the parks and plethora of woods Fish youll find in the Herefordshire Rivers If its angling you want this location delivers Hampshire has wheat that is extremely prized A maritime county, I bet youre surprised. Lancashires known as a commercial place Manufacturing cotton, silk and some lace Leicestershires cheese is actually renowned Sheep in the pastures are there to be found Kent of course is closest to France A beautiful county full of romance Lincolnshire is flat and particularly low So if theres a flood they're the first to know Its Northampton that manufactures our boots Robin of Loxley has Nottinghamshire roots Oxfordshire is well known for its sport With a Henman thats often seen on the court Shropshire has a bridge from iron its forged Somerset with cider and the Cheddar Gorge Surrey and Suffolk are quite a mix Sussex and Staffordshire make up the six Warwickshire sits central they say Wiltshire has downs thats all I can say Worcestershire is rich in minerals and fruit Their apples the finest I shall not dispute Yorkshire is flanked by the Pennine chain With it Hills and its Wolds a mining vein And so we wind up here in the Dales Writing the next one about Scotland and Wales WRITTEN BY GF272 |

That is just so clever, to Geoff we must bow
He had all the Counties included somehow And now all our names have a place to call home And all of our Ancestors ne'er more will roam. WRITTEN BY BAZ |
