Well I'm still ploughing on with 'Christmas'
You'd think it was next week !
The amount of stuff I've got stashed up
Upstairs and down here round my feet !!

I've carrier bags of teddy bears
I've little baby boots
To fill with lavendar (or something)
For my son to pop in his shoes.

I wrote a little story book
Bill read it -I thought he'd weep
It's all about a Christmas Star
I must finish that off this week !!

My drawers of full of papers
Of print offs that I've done
Of pictures that I just might need
Well, at least I may use some !

My shoe boxes are covered
I even bought some more
At a boot fair - seven of them
Different sizes - £3 - I said 'Cor !!!!'

So really all I need to do
Is wrap up all these bits
Oh - and put the eyes on my snowman
And my reindeer heads - if they fit !!

Oh Christmas - how I love it!!
Oh the joy of all this mess
I thought that starting early
I'd avoid a lot of stress !

Not so - poor Bill was turning grey
But now he finds it fun
He joins in all these crafty bits
When I moan 'glad when it's all done !'

How beautiful it is to do nothing and rest afterwards...

Bills gone off to see his Mum
So I've been 'home alone'
Well not quite -our lads still here
Poor soul - oh how I've groaned

I've got a cough -thats bad enough
But yesterday was worse
I woke up with a migraine
I hate them - it's like a curse !

Sunday our lad cooked dinner
Chicken with pasta and sauce
Last night I said 'will you cook again'
Pizza in hand - ''Of course'

Today I felt much better
I'll cook today, I thought
Chicken wrapped in bacon
And roast veg - of a sort.

All was going well until
Our poor old cat came in
Our lad said 'she been in a fight ?'
She wailed - made such a din !

I had a look - yuk - nasty !
Better get her checked out
Forgot the dinner -rang the vet
She said -'come straight down now !'

The cat basket was located
I popped our cat inside
I've never seen her move so fast
She leapt out - ran outside !

She nearly made the garage -but
A quick grab - she was caught
My neighbour took me to the vets
(More expense I thought !!!)

She hadn't been in a fight at all
She'd scratched herself so sore
Seems some old cats do this
Though I've not had one before !

So one injection to stop the 'itch'
Antibiotic was the other
£67 pounds later I left !!
Good job Bills at his Mothers.

How much ??? He'd say shouting
That vets having a laugh
I won't say - but I used the wrong vet
The other's cheaper by far !!!

Still, what he don't know won't hurt
The cats sorted -just about
Dinner ? Well it was ok
I suppose -though a bit dried out.

I hope Bill comes home tomorrow
The Builder's due to call
To fix a hole in the ceiling
Before it starts to fall !

So, thats my few days this week
It's not been a lot of fun
I just hope there's no more expense
Before the week is done !!

I'm still hacking and croaking Chris
But as an easy chore
I'm completing a Memory Book
Questions there are galore !!

What was Grandma's wedding like?
Don't know - I wasn't there !
What was she like as a child ?
What clothes did she wear ?

Did I like my brother ?
Resounding answer 'No !!'
What did we argue about ?
You name it - we shouted so !!

What was Dad like as a child ?
What games did he play ?
What was Grandma's house like ?
Did they have any 'funny ways' ?

It really starts you thinking though
Out comes the history stuff
So I can describe Gran's wedding dress
And other kind of stuff

Some of I have to say
Are 'skeletons' of a kind
Mum falling out with step-mum
Family feuds -but never mind.

It's all part of my family
What makes us who we are
Now I must defrost the sausages !
We can't eat them rock hard !!

This Memory Book is one I bough
From the charity shop
The other - that's something I'm doing
And Memories never stop

It's handy having one that has
The Questions on each page
Means I just have to think of answers
And do it stage by stage

The questions are quite basic
But they give a fair view
Of things that happened in the past
Like who fell out with who

Who married, what they wore and when
All that sort of stuff
It's quite big - I'm just half way through
Today I'd had enough.

Page after page I had to drag
My history files all out
To make sure dates of stuff were right
No guessing and no doubts.

Something to do while sitting down
On these cold autumn days
Beats hoovering - what doesn't ?
Why work when you can play !

I had my grandchildren here yesterday , my grandaughter aged 9

wrote me a little poem , i thought it cute so thought you might like to read it . Have written how she has ==

The Environment

There must be a sollution to stop pollution

The fish in the ocean are causing a comotion

Diseases spread and making the animals dead

So recycle to help save your own lifecycle

Being homeless when at war

Animals are crying please no more

Rainforest trees are falling down

Soon it will be out of bound.

The school she attend is putting in a book they do for all schools

Chris that's lovely, bless her Children these days seem much more aware of what's happening in the world today than we were. Don't think I'd have been at all concerned when I was 9, I'd have left the adults to fret about world pollution. Some people complain "kids today" etc, but poems like your grandaughter's help prove that kids today are very thoughtful. Well done to your grandaughter
