Bank Holiday -it poured with rain
Just to start the day
But now the sun is shining
But a few clouds are still grey.

Nothing planned, nothing to do
The kids have both gone out
I'm glad they have........cos my word
Earlier, they did shout !

I asked them what the problem was
'Nothing' came the reply
Pouting of lips, a wicked frown
They left, without 'goodbye' !

Our oldest one is now eighteen
Was he drunk ? Yes......I'll say
But soon recovered Saturday
When his girlfriend came to stay

My sons now back from Liverpool
He's obsessed by the 'fab four'
So he went all round the city
And on the Magical Mystery tour

My hair needs badly washing
Have a lot of bad hair days
It needs a trim -I need a facelift
Oh the onset of old age !!

I've sent off for free samples
Of 'anti ageing cream'
All guaranteed to make me look young
But that aint what it seems !

The wrinkles they still stare at me
I just give myself a glance
Where I was thin now I''m fat
I've no energy to dance !

I really should be doing more
Instead I sit and think
Then think and sit while washing up
Builds up in the kitchen sink.

But times not totally wasted
I've searched my family tree
Found auntie in the workhouse
Was a surprise to see !

I've made all my Christmas cards
And pressies..........well a few
The rest are from charity shops
I can't afford brand new !

I've de-cluttered and organised
The did it all again
It seems to breed while I'm asleep
And piles up in my den!

But never mind.......maybe one day
I will be clutter free
Not just my house, my head as well
But will that be the real 'me' ???

Glad you had a good time Chris
Well ours has just begun
Our oldest lads off with his girlfriend
The others seeing Mum.

They won't be back until tomorrow
Oh, a 'kid free zone'
No arguements with them and I just might
Get to use the phone !

They've both cleared out their bedrooms
At least thats what they said
But you just would not believe
Whats lurking 'neath their beds

A set of spoons, two plates, a dish
The handset from our phone
The portable one that went missing
(Just wait till he gets home !)

Strange.......just after it went missing
Our lad says......'I know someone
who's got a phone just like that
He's flogging, if you want one'

'No thanks' we said a bit suspicious
Thinking all along
That our phone was among his 'stuff'
And he knew he was in the wrong !

Oh well, its back now safe and sound
And charging up - I hope
Cos he''ll have cash to fork out
If we find out it's broke !

Oh, Saturday my front tooth
Had a sort of mis-hap
The filling I'd had done fell out
I feared I'd have a gap

Cos this poor tooth is hanging on
By a thread - well piece of tooth
Should really come out and be put
On my dentures - and thats the truth

But I can't get in -emergency !
Till next Tuesday afternoon
So he'll have to fill the wretched thing
I've got to see Mum soon

Next Wednesday is her birthday
I know I should be there
But not with a gap in my teeth
Looking like a witch.........no fear !

So, fingers crossed until then
With soft meals, I'll get by
With front tooth staying in its place
If it don't - I think I'll cry !

I've been down to the dentist
To have my poor tooth filled
'Oh dear' they said 'he's gone home
He was feeling quite ill !
Can you come back on Thursday ?'
'No I can't - I'm at my Mums
'Oh dear -will be the 15th then
(Oh double drat and bum !!!)
So here's hoping my tooth hangs on
And while I'm seeing Mum
I don't end up like a toothless crone
Displaying my front gums !
Saved a few quid though -just for now
£44 to be precice
But come the 15th of September
I'll have to pay the price !
But not to worry, money saved now
Is a bit more for me to spend
So I'm taking an empty shopping bag
To mums - shops ?? There's no end !!

I expect the kids will run amok
They''ve been doing it all week
Running off through the window
And then off down the street
Ask them why - they've not a clue
I wonder - where's their brains
Have they left them on the bus
And they're waiting to be claimed ?
Will I ever understand
The workings of their minds
I think not - from 11 - 18
They're a species of different kind.

Well, thats my verse for now at least
Feel free to fill the space
I leave behind -when I come back
It'll put a smile upon my face
So bards you all, get scribing
Be witty, you know you can
I got to go now - sausages
Are buring in the pan !!!!!

Wink Re: Own poems

Its been a while since I have been here
And what a lot of changes there are
But one thing I am glad still to see
Are these poems - the best so far

Well what a summer we have had
Or rather we have not
I can only think of one whole week
Where it didn't rain a lot

None the less we have managed to play
A nice lot of cricket matches
Two Test series and lots of ODI's
Lods of runs and lbw's and catches

Nothing now until November
When the big Twenty20 matches take place
Got to finish the County 40 over games
Next year the Ashes - watch this space

Now as for me - well there's not a lot
To tell - I can't think what
I've done this summer that is of interest
An exciting life I have not

Now sleep I have become and expert at that
During the day - not so much at night
I live my life the wrong way round
I never seem to get things right

My regular trips to get my magic stuff
Are not so well working now
I hope they soon come up with something new
To give me that extra pow

Well I think that this must be my lot
My little brain is getting so tired
So I will try and come again before too long
To read other poems - much admired

Just popped in to see who was here
Too late to catch you, Chris, I fear.
I'm awfu' glad to see you back,
The games room suffers from the lack
Of your humour, the jokes and such,
The merry quips I miss so much.

Glad you enjoyed your time away
With family, and I bet that they
Loved having you, there were, no doubt
Fun , games, and hugs, and what about
Young William, that little man
Who took his first steps for his Gran !

But now the Word Games room awaits
And gathered there you'll find your mates
To welcome you with "Link the Word",
Compose , no matter how absurd,
Those limericks, such fun to do.
There's Anagrams, and Scrabble too.

I'm sure I don't need to remind
You of the other joys you'll find,
And maybe Star, when she has heard
You're here, will once more Find the Word.
So many things to do, you see,
But don't forget the Family Tree !

Putting my wrongs also right

Peeps you can call friends or m8s

A time for tree a time to help and some fun

Hello all - glad to be back
In this little poets room
So sorry Star's not very well
So Star - you get well soon !
Poor Chris will get in such a muddle
With her family tree
Cos she's about as organised
(or disorganised!) as me !

Mum was fine, awake, alert
My brother ? .......well 'nuff said
I'd hoped to go to Poundland
No there - 99p shop instead !
So couldn''t get quite what I wanted
Gave up in the end
And missed out Woolworths - darn it !
There I''d have had a spend

But I'm not used to big shops
We don't have any here
So bargains for a quid we don't get
And Bill thinks its too dear
With petrol costing so much
20 miles there and back
To Lincoln just to save a few quid
And cash's something we lack

But we''ve got a few nice shops here
And my plan was, today
To go and have a little spend
But then 'rain stopped play'
The kids they've ran amok as well
Police are due to call
Cos yesterday one got hit by someone
While playing football !

I hope the week gets better
I've things I have to do
I've old photos I brought back from Mums
Want to work out who's who
Poor Mum she's really no idea
Are they Dads family or hers?
Well, that's for me to try and find out
So here endeth this verse

(AKA Mary)

How beautiful it is to do nothing and rest afterwards...

Would have loved to go back ,will do soon
