Last time that Mary was away
I remember it well
I cleaned up all the poets room
We got rid of all the smell

We got out the polish
Emptied all the bins
Of paper, gum and fag ash
And even banana skins

Chris got out the vaccum
Anny bought some Flowers
Now the room is as it was
Last time it took us hours

Now you know why she's hiding
She holds her head in shame
As she thinks we will forget
And clear it up again.

Now Chris you are not reading

Cream cakes in the fridge, Chris ?
I daren't go near that
So they're quite safe from me,
I'm fed up being fat.
I vowed from today
Stuff like that I would shun
And I've been pretty good
'Cos I only had one,
But just now as I raised
My wine glass to my lips
Enjoying the contents,
Taking small sips,
I thought that perhaps
We should get in some wine
To welcome back Mary,
Red or white, either's fine.
What's that you say, Chris,
I shouldn't be drinking
Because wine's full of calories ?
Not to my way of thinking !

Well how come you got cream on your face

Crumbs all over my nice clean floor

You sure came fast , is it a race

I knew cream cakes you do adore

Guess what !, I've just seen Mary
I wouldn't have thought her so bold
She's not out with the builder
But skipping with an 11 year old.

What have you lot been up to
While I've not been here ?
I wasn't far away you know
Out with the builder ? No fear !

And skipping with an 11 yr old ?
Me ? At my age ? .......no way !
He's in my bad books - should have
Gone on a Youth Club trip today !

Instead he chose to stay at home
At cheerfully run amok
Winding up our older boy
And his girlfriend -wouldn't stop!

Much shouting, banging,slamming doors
Up and down the stairs
While I tried to make a birthday card
With some creative flair !

Not to be beat - I got it done
The shouting carried on
So then I put my twopenneth in
Our little chap, no time, was gone !

Leaving us with peace -our older
Lad gave his room a tidy
He's trying hard to be grown up
He'll be 18 on Friday !

Apart from all this havoc
I've had meetings to attend
My diary's never been so full
But I fitted in seeing my friend.

She due to go to hospital
Was in need of a laugh or two
And it got me out the house a while
Well, least an hour or two.

Glad to see you've all been busy
Keeping the place clean
Did I tell you that my hoover died
And is now an old 'has been' ?

I replaced it with a little one
I can lift it up with ease
But its very small -one room done
It needs emptying if you please !

Mistake to buy a lightweight one
Cos now Bill only cooks
Now I can do the hoovering
While he just sits and looks

Just when I began to think
Today's a brighter day
With youngest lad out on a trip
The phone rang - no, no way !!

The trip was to a youth club
In a nearby market town
Seems our little lad walked out
Not allowed a fag- he frowned.

He stormed off said that he was off
To see his Mum nearby
I rang him, he said 'I'm at youth club'
I said to him -'don't lie'

I've just this minute had a call
From the lady who works there
She says you've just walked out
In a mood - now this isn't fair !

'I'm at the Youth club' he insisted
But somehow I don't think so
He's in a bad mood for some reason
Won't say,why, so we don't know!

Well, bless me, just had a phone call
He's at the Youth Club now
And going to do some cooking
Kids !! They're up and then they're down !!

So, hopefully all will be well
Hope so, else I'll go mad
Little kids with attitude !!
Makes my head ache - bad !

Well, now I know that all is well
I'll get back to my paint
(I'm trying to be artistic
But creative - it aint !!
