Why thank you all for your kind words
even though my poems can be absurd
at times they just dont sit right
but at least i try with all my might

im a novice and dont claim to be
a master at a bees knees society
but my son says im a clever mum
as he sits on my flabby tum

kids! i know you'll all agree
say the nicest things sat upon our kness
mum your the best at cooking tea
i love you! do you love me?

i know sometimes they drive us round the bend
with can i have this and teddy needs a mend
but without them our lives are not complete
and our homes are never clean and neat

and as they get older it doesnt have to stop
cos with their children they often pop
speading their toys and crayons all around
till the walls are covered and cant see the ground

i best stop this poem or i'll never end
im glad i clicked the button called send
i've made some friends, im so happy!
even though some call me wappy

take care
love Pat x

Hi Patty,......... and a big welcome to Chris's room
The room she forever sweeps with a broom
I'm too a newbie here...... called a few times...
To post some frivolous, nonsensical rhymes
Anny, Chris, Petal, and Star,
'Old time' poets is what they are
They'll welcome your input with a big cheer
Be thrilled to bits to see you here
The more the merrier is their belief
And, as Petal said it can be a relief
From stresses, and strains, and to rant..
And get thing off your chest and chant
Can only make you feel more relaxed
You won't be feeling quite so taxed
Here, in this friendly, happy, place
For you, and others, there's a welcoming space

What a lovely day it is

Sun shinning sky blue BLISS

Family called to walk dogs in wood

We will come if we could

So many poor trees bending wrong way

Through the gales, i heard some folks say

Still quite a lot of huge puddles and mud

Blissful till i fell with such a thud

Poor joints made it hard to get up on my feet

Morning wasnt wasted it was great such a treat.

You saw the sun Chris......well so did I
But through the window........I did delve
Underneath my pooter desk
A 'job to do' - long shelved.

Four wicker baskets all stacked up
My word -what is inside ?
I wondered as I opened them
Well, I wasn't surprised !

Nothing really exciting
Candles - quite a few
Some stuff for making cards with
I'd forgot 'bout -as you do.

Magazines - why have I kept them
They will have to go
Off into the wheelie bin
(Must recycle, you know!)

I found a folder full of stuff
Censuses and e mails
All duplicates, not one but four
Of folk and their details.

So to the shredder they will go
I've now an empty file
Oh lor............what can I put in it
Bill looks with a wry smile !

All the baskets emptied out
I got them all re-arranged
With stuff -now I've forgotten what !!
My brain - I'm all deranged !!

I found my electric typewriter
From pre-computer years
So thats on the freecycle site
When it's gone, I'll shed no tears

I hoovered up the gap beneath
My desk and then put back
My neat and tidy baskets
And a box that should hold hats !

Thats full of ribbons for card making
All done now..........I thought
And then I thought - grans bible box
Now that I ought to sort !

There's two big bibles in there
And prayer books - about four
Grandmas recipe book
And then I found some more..........!!

Two tatty books - one child-like
Of Mr. & Mrs. Rabbit
And another one.......a Woman's book
Old fashioned dress and habits.

Now these books, they weren't grandmas
So they will have to go
They're both so dog eared -e bay?
Oh no, I don't think so.

I've still a box to go through
Of stationary.......I'll use that
And the box is old........all sectioned off
Useful...........so that goes back.

I've hoovered under that desk now
(Gran''s bible box's home)
It fits a treat so......job well done
But oh the floor..............groan....moan !!

Typewriter, carrier bags galore
Some rubbish and some not
Someone wants some other stuff
And folders that I've got.

The hoover stands there looking sad
Wondering whats going on
As does the dustpan, brush and duster
But I'll stop now............they'll be gone

Back in the cupboard 'neath the stairs
To have a well earned rest
Until I clear up some more c***
They''ve proved they'll stand the test !

But just for now they'll sigh, relieved
That I'm calling it a day
I want to see my floor again
So I'll clear this stuff away.

Poor Chris, I hope your joints and knees are feeling better
In our woods, too, the ground could not be any wetter.
So many times I've nearly come a cropper,
Or really fallen, which for grannies don't look proper.
It's not just muddy puddles that can catch you out
You have to watch for roots straggling about
Waiting to snag your foot and send you flying
And slippery sodden grassy slopes are very trying.
Oh yes, it's a wild and dangerous world out there
So if you're going to venture out you should take care.

I';ve just had a disaster
The lens fell out my specs
I put it in a bit skew wop
And couldn't see.......oh eck !!

They're varifocals - have to
'Point your nose at what you see'
Well I can;t do that, well not now
I'm one eyed now.......thats me !

I only got them last October
Paid two hundred quid !
Please don't say 'I should have gone
to Specsavers' like my mate did.

Cos without my specs can you imagine
Me getting on a bus
Fumbling for my bus pass
And creating such a fuss ?

No way - it's so much easier
To pop just down the town
The chap there - he wil fix it
Better had - I'm starting to frown !!

At least I found my old ones
So all's not lost.........not quite
But these are a much darker lens
Everywhere looks like night !!!

So bear with me if I'm not here
Tomorrow.............it will be
Because I'm having problems
In short.............can't bloomin' see !

My 'specs' panic is over
With my old specs I can see !
So out came my paint brushes
And out came the paint - jade green !

You see, I've got this plant trough
First hubby made years ago
For Mum and Dad -when the house was cleared
The plant trough had to go

I brought it home and stood it
'gainst the wall in my little den
Bit by bit it got filled up
With clutter, 'stuff' and then......

I thought I'd have a clear up
Blitzed my den........just bit by bit
And came to the little corner
Where the plant trough firmly sits

I had a brainwave......an idea
Bill got a piece of wood
And cut it to fit across the top
So it could go back where it stood

But now it would be painted
In a pretty shade of green
With skeleton leaves at each corner
Subtle, but so they're seen.

The lid-cum-shelf would hide-away
My brollys, scarves and gloves
And on the lid-cum-shelf I'd stand
Some bits and bobs I love.

Least that's what the idea was
But its gone sadly wrong
I painted it and thats ok
I thought pva glue was strong !

I smeared it over all the leaves
And placed them on the trough
Dabbing them just here and there
Then they blessed well peeled off !!

I dabbed them with a cloth some more
Gently - not too hard
But as I did the paint came off !!
I could have slung it down the yard !!

So for today I'll do no more
My leaves I've stuck again
This time they'd better just not move
(I'm counting up to ten !!)

My stress levels they are well high
My rooms a bloomin mess
The plant troughs all over the floor
The lid-cum-shelf aint done yet !

I'm hoping that tomorrow
Will be a better day
I'll get my new specs sorted out
And hope things go my way

And by tomorrow evening
Sitting proudy painted green
With lid-cum-shelf in place
My trough will be best thats ever seen !

I watch the members doing look ups for others tree

Why do mine have to be hidden from me

A different family member ive tried to find

No wonder my tree is slow and so behind

Right i thought dads tree can wait , mums will research

Can you credit it , their hidden and not to be unearthed

Gillian then found a small bit on my disappearing grandfather

Now i cant seem to get any further

Well we do all know its not that easy , six yrs looking is all ive done

Some i know 25 yrs or more so thats me sorted for years to come

Chris don't fret - your family
Will pop up -out the blue
Just when you think of giving up
They'll shock and startle you.

Mine-for now - can take a break
I've shelved my family tree
I've stuff to do, like clear my house
So the carpet I can see !

I got my lens put in my specs
My plant troughs in its place
Dads walking sticks fit in a basket
My son at school had made.

I tackled then the bed settee
One coat and then two
Shopping bags and handbags
I dont need four............do you ??

Bills football book I bought him
Is too big for the bookshelf
I've not a clue where that will go
Can only blame myself !

Least now our little bed settee
Is no longer a habitat
For 'stuff' like coats and bags
Next -mums china cabinet !

The cabinet itself is fine
It's just what''s underneath
There's a box a stuff came from my Dads
What else ? It's beyond belief.

But I found some bags of money
(No - not the Pendered gold!)
Some loose change I'd bagged up wrong
At the bank 'No' I was told.

Ten pences must be separate
To five p's - so I might
As football's on the tele
Count that all out tonight !
