Yesterday poor Bill came home
Wearing such a frown
He'd got to work - a sight he saw
His workshop had burned down !!

Wooden furniture - to a crisp
All gone.......I thought he'd cry
Half his tools - his part time job
Now gone - left high and dry !

Well all things have a plus side
My Dad he always said
Least no-ne was hurt at all
And then Bill scratched his head.

I know he said - I'll work from home
Till my new workshops built
I'll clear the garage - I was gobsmacked
It's full to the hilt !!!

So plusses - I'll see more of him
The garage will be cleared
Of all the clutter thats built up
Over the past few years.

Sorted I thought - then today
Things started going wrong
The cordless phones gone missing
The Tele's all gone wrong !

I've probably binned the cordless phone
It's such a tiny thing
But I've got my mobile and so has Bill
Though he seldom hears it ring !

ITV for some reason
Has disappeared from view
But only downstairs -upstairs -fine
Whats wrong we've not a clue.

By now we both were cursing
And the builder hadn't been
To give a quote - so I rang him
(I kept the language clean!)

Firm I was but with a hint
Of humour in my tone
He's promised me ''tomorrow lunchtime'
I said 'Yes - I'll be home !'

And now I know his number
And exactly where he lives
So he had better fix my roof
Before my temper gives !!

Oh I do hope tomorrow
Will be a better day
When plans go right without a hitch or
Life getting in the way !

The phone has still gone AWOL
I've not mentioned it -nor Bills DVD
For fear of starting a great debate
Or worse still, World War Three!

The builder called - at long last
To survey our damaged roof
He looked at it then scratched his head
Then said 'To tell the truth.......

There's more work there I reckon
Your gutterings falling down
The flat roofs got a bubble in it........'
The he started to frown

Then he saw the plaster
That had fallen of the wall
And a window that's gone rotten
And not needed at all.

'To sort that wall out and the roof
The brick that window up
I think we're talking near a grand'
I tried hard not to gulp !!!

He's bring up the quote tomorrow
See what Insurance say
I just might find a quiet corner
And cry if they wont pay !!!

Still life's not all that bad is it
We've some flowering daffs -bit late
And a pretty sort of tulip out
Just behind the garden gate.

My cyclamen are still alive
Grape Hyacinths on the go
And some poppy seeds Bill planted
Are now starting to grow.

So when life seems a bucket full
Of stuff we just won't mention
Try to think of something nice
Just to relieve the tension.

Think of blue skies, rainbows
All sorts of things like that
Just blank you're mind to anything
That's making life seem c**p !!!!

(pardon for nearly rude word...........)

My head aches and I wonder.......
Does everyone have 'clutter' ??
Cos me - I've got a lot of it
Bill just looks on and mutters
As I make frantic efforts
To tidy what I've got
I'm sorting photos out today
My word I've got a lot !!

I meant to empty all the albums
Create nice tidy pages
Of albums but do I do them yearly ?
Or of people - through the ages ?
I''m at a loss, I near got buried
'Neath the wretch pile
Of photos of kids, granparents
All with a cheesy smile !

I swear they're laughing at me
As I struggle through them all
Well just for now I've had enough
There's a shelf up on the wall
I've cleared it of the stuff it held
Boxes of stuff.....all kinds
And put them in a cupboard
Out of sight and out of mind.

And on that shelf these albums
Will settle.........their new home
Easier to get at than
The cupboard........down below.
I blame my son -he asked me
For some photos - I said 'OK'
And spent all day on hands and knees
While there I should have prayed !

I might have got an answer
As I knelt upon the floor
With every album gone through
I thought - then there were more !
The floor was covered - now its worse
There's photos everywhere
Sort out ? No.........I don''t think so
They'll go back, just as they were !

Mary , how many times have you and i said weve sorted again

Realy im not sure anymore whos realy to blame

I like you finally got it done all nice and in its place

Do you think its uncanny how it gets again all misplaced

I have put some documents away in a safe place ,

We have searched everywere still no trace

to make matters worse daughter made me a special folder, realy bright

Which should stick out even at night

Ah well no doubt it will finally pop up

Or maybe fairys will sprinkle some luck.

Well least I threw some albums out
Well past their sell by date
The rest are now up on the shelf
But I'm not sure thats their fate

I'm looking at them, don;t feel right
I likes my box files there
And shoe boxes, all decorated
With tender loving care.

And now they're in a cupboard
Hidden - out of sight
In view are all these photo albums
Oh they do look a fright !!

There's red ones, and there's black
And there's a bright shade of blue
It somehow doesn't look right
With all these different hues.

No good - I've made my mind up
No changing it -that's that
They'll in the cupboard whence they came
Box files & boxes.........welcome back !!

Hi, patty 22, how nice to meet you here today,
Come into our wee room and take a pew.
I hope you'll write more poems, the more the merrier, I say,
And we're always glad to welcome someone new.

And welcome to AA, I hope you like it now you're here,
It really is the friendliest place to be
And when those rellies hide from you, and try to disappear,
You'll find a lot of help, believe you me.

And when look-ups begin to pall, and weary is your head
Of marriages and births and dates and names
You can always take a break and write a poem in here, instead
Or spend some time in solving those word games.

Hi patty and a warm welcome
To our little poet's room
Its fun in here to write some rhyme
Or just to let off steam

Have a rant ,put it to verse
Suddenly.....it's much better
You'll laugh at what you're moaning at
As your absorb each letter !

I haven't got a 'moan' today
Well not as such - but specs !!
I think I might need new ones
But surely...........no, not yet ??

I had these last October
Varifocals.......whats gone wrong
That I can't see so clearly ??
Cos I haven't had them long

Mind you they always were peculiar
Or maybe I thought 'twas me
Too late to get them replaced
At least, to get them free !!

I should have gone back before now
Within three weeks they said
But me ? Stupid.........I didn't
It went right out my head !

I wonder.......maybe its the frames
They might just be askew
And need adjusting slightly
If so.........it's nothing new.

And clean them ?? Well could be that
I never was much cop
At cleaning specs.........or anything
I'm no way Mrs. Mop !!

Oh well, we'll see tomorrow
Meanwhile Bills back still aches
He's moaning bout that and his sinuses
When he snores.........the noise he makes !!

Though he has said tomorrow
If his back still feels this bad
He'll pop off to the doctors
If he don't - I will be mad !!

Bill and doctors.......well he just
Won't see them when he ought
He'd rather suffer so it seems
As yet more pills get bought !

He'd rather take them -one or two
Then have a little whine
An 'Ouch' and then a big deep sigh
Bad back ??? He should have mine !!

But I'm a martyr to it
And there's something to be gained
I can't lift up the hoover now
It causes too much pain

So gladly I sit back and watch
As someone dusts and cleans
And does the things I just can't do
I pay them...........I'm not mean !!

It's worth it - well why suffer
When I've much to do.......and more..
Thats fun and far more interesting
Than hoovering the floor !!
