Chris sorry that you've not been well
And Ive not been around
But I've been thinning out Dads stuff
Amazed at stuff I found !

Manuscripts, books, magazines
Mostly to do with drums
Sheets of music, catalogues
'How to play the accordian' ???

How to play the xylophone
And saxophone as well
There was so much, it took an age
To decide what to sell.

Thats if anyone wanted it
Well, two folk came to look
One chap I gave some stuff to
But he didn't want the books.

Then along came another chap
Passionate and keen
He revelled over all of it
Music was his dream.

He really wanted records
But I''d only got a few
And was pleased to let him have them
I got a few quid too.......!

Whats left is mainly stuff thats mine
Music that I played
In days of old when I played piano
(I wish I could today!)

I gave all that up in my teens
I'd better things to do
Than have piano lessons
Like meet friends, shopping too.

So now I'm left with all my music
Exams that I passed
Not what shall I do with it all ?
I must get rid at last !

I've cleared Dads old case - all except
The stuff he wrote himself
And that will stay with me
It takes up no room on the shelf.

Think I just might 'freecycle'
The rest and get it gone
To life the load off my shoulders
And maybe I can move on.

Cos I've kept, oh so much stuff
Of Dads...............and nows the time
To cherish just the best of him
Now here endeth this rhyme

Hi Mary lovely to see you drop by

As for cold a lot better so aint gonna cry

It does seem youve enjoyed sorting music out

Great though to delve back to our past, recalling what we are about

At least weve sorted one thing here

Our member of the year

It is as times so hard to do

Members great all of you

To see everyone helping were they can

Willing ,happily, lending a hand.

Well done slizzy ,

Chris

Chris, it's good to hear you are now feeling well
Be sensible, keep warm, in the forthcoming coldspell
Our weather.......well, it doesn't treat us fair
Don't know about you, but, me I despair
Of one day I'm sporting summery togs
The next it's cold, and raining cats and dogs
However, we all must keep optimistic
Not allowing ourselves to feel pessimistic
Let's all shout out loud 'we will have summer skies'
It won't be long before we're waking to morning sunrise
Though those days at the moment may feel far away
They WILL come along, and lead us astray
We'll be whiling our time..... sitting in the sun
Cleaning, tidying, ironing, will not get done
Does that matter? No, there'll be no fines
For making hay, while the sun shines

I endorse Chris everything you said,
Of AA members ...their help do spread..
Around the boards to make the site...
An absolute, pleasurable, delight.

ALL have something to contribute
Knowledge to share and distribute
So, I grasp this great opportunity
To say 'nothing beats... AA's community.

'Member of the Year'
For all the help and Links and Tips
You've given......so three cheers !!

Glad you're feeling better Chris
Looks like we're in for snow
So this weekend get your cardi out
Stay warm wherever you go.

Is this the end of winter then ?
Will Springtime now begin ?
Cos till I can go out without my coat
I'm simply 'staying in' !!

We're in for more snow, the weatherman said
So I shiver as I watch and wait !
We've had sunshine and blue skies and just the odd shower
But not what you'd call a 'snowflake' !

Well, will it or won't it ? Will we be lucky ?
Will this April snow forget us ?
I do hope it does, if the roads all get blocked
We'll be lucky if we see a bus !!

Our garden's a mess and I wanted it tidied
A lad came up -thought it would get done
Cos the weather was fine then in started to rain
Not snow..........just rain..........in between sun !

He trimmed back the ivy - in between showers
Then put the paint pots in a bin
A trip to the tip now is needed I reckon
The garage ? Don't know where to begin !!

There's a freezer smack bang in the middle
But Bill did put shelves up on the wall
The general idea was to be organized
Well............there's not a lot on them at all !

The odd flower pots and a few little tools
The rest ? Well they're all indoors !
In the back room that leads off kitchen
Where the plaster fell down on the floor !!

Builders ??? Well........they just don't want to know
My roof, poor things missing some tiles
But Monday - Bill says - a chaps coming up
Give a quote, he says............I had to smile.

Three builders I've asked so far to date
All say 'I'll pop up and have a look'
(The plaster fell off the walls in the earthquake
I slept through it - but seems the earth shook !!)

So far no builders have shown their face here
So we'll see, just what Monday brings
Will this chap come ? Have we got a phone number ?
No...........I can't even give him a ring !!!

He's a 'pub-mate' of Bills, name of 'Bomber' I think
Least that's what Bill says the blokes called
(Why do men call themselves such silly names ?
Ooops - says 'petal'..............that's not my name at all !!!

Talking Re: own poems

Hi Chris, it is me, I'm here
I haven't deserted you
And so a quick poem as promised
Just a little one for you to view

So what can I tell you since my last little ditty
Nothing ever much happens to me
A quiet life is the one I lead
Unlike Mary the busy little bee

Last time I wrote I was off to get
Some of the magic stuff
But have had to have three more visits
Because I have been so rough

Now just to get you all
In the mood for whats to come
I hope you all saw England win
The test series - raise the thumb

Yes the cricket season is nearly here
So a summer filled with fun
Two test series and some ODI's
Before the season is done

Oh Vel......don't remind me 'bout cricket !!
Been bad enough -Bill and football !
Once thats all over and cricket begins
We won't see each other at all !

I'll be logged on -he'll be glued to tv
Watching men in white 'bowl maidens over'
I'll see the back of his head -he'll see mine
Between 'silly mid ons' 'underarm thrower' !!

Yes, I know - I got it all wrong
And dont know what I'm talking about
Still at least with the cricket Bills watches quietly
Football ? He feels he must shout !!

He yells when his team loses and when they win
And when the ref says its 'off side'
Then goes strangely silent when its all over
Dare I ask who won ? I can't decide.

If Liverpool lose.......its best not to mention
If they win..........he goes quiet with relief
But how am I supposed to know which is which ?
It really is daft -beyond belief !

Sport ? Well I'm sorry Vel it's not for me
The rules I just can't understand
And it mucks up the tele programmes I like
So I reckon it should be banned !

Then I might get some little jobs done
Round the house............like fixing the door
On the dresser we've got that each time it opens
It drags on the rug on the floor !

So please.........if sport must be on tele
Can they not play each game 'extra time' ?
And please can the cricket team maybe consider
To play in wet weather and fine ?

Hi everyone ..... hope you are all well
Me? tonight, I've used every brain cell
Had to fill out .... my staff review form
'They' want to know how I perform
What are my achievements, do I have any issues?
I tell you by the end .......... I reached for the tissues
I'm not one for... employer's formalities
To my way of thinking they're mere technicalities
Why must 'we' talk about what I do day to day?
Nothing much changes, although 'they' do say
It's a chance to discuss....to what you aspire
At MY age! my primary aim's to RETIRE
What are my development plans, and my strengths?
And 'they' don't stop there, they go to all lengths
To encourage you to agree to extra training
I, find the experience ......... very draining
I'm told it's a neccessary exercise for my career
But I thank goodness..... it's only, once a year
So, my forms now done and submitted
Don't think there's anything I've.... omitted
And I'll attend the review meeting next week
It will be very civilised......I'll be encouraged to speak.....
Of ideas,skills, difficulties and constraints
Asked do I have objectives, or any complaints?
I'll be good as gold, smile, agree, and nod
For it's not bright to be seen .....as an awkward so*
