Well Chris it gave me quite a lift
To know it arrived o.k. In fact I felt tons better Than I had these past two days. I even put some pictures up (Well, Bill did) in the kitchen Three with differet coffees on One was of a chicken. I moved my jars of dried seeds And some that were in a frame The jars on on the pine dresser The kitchens not the same It felt quite drab though I admit I hadnt realised How tired and worn out it had become Now I see it with fresh eyes Its lighter and much brighter With different things to see Some are new, some just been moved But its all pleasing to me. This time of year, when weather's cold And just goes on and on We need something to lift us up Until the winter's gone. Well now I feel I'm on a roll I've a cupboard next in line To paint and put in my front room Ive had it quite some time. What then I wonder - don't say cleaning Bills in charge of that Hoover ? Me ? Oh no I darent Not with my bad back. So all things have a plus side My back might twinge and ache But no more do I lift or hoover Lifes a piece of cake ![]() |

At 2am this morning
I woke with such a scare ! Bill -on his way to the loo - Had fallen down the stairs ! ![]() He lay there in a crumpled heap At the bottom near the door That led into the kitchen Blood on the bloomin' floor ! ![]() He'd knocked his head & gashed his toe Out came the first aid kit Full of slings and bandages Nothing that would fit His big toe -so I improvised With a big one, best I could Looked like a turban on his toe In fact........it looked quite good ! ![]() 'Ambulance ?' I said.....'No' says he I helped him back to bed 'Don;t forget to set the alarm For half seven' he said. Our lad was due back from his mums (Oh.........my aching head) I couldn't sleep...........was 3am I'd just got back to bed ! ![]() The alarm went off and I got up Feeling somewhat dazed Our lad came back, went off to school My eyes felt sort of 'glazed' I needed to get my pension Some shopping..........so I rang A friend.....'don't worry' she said 'I'll come, quick as I can !' ![]() As she arrived I blubbed away Why ? I've no idea Lack of sleep ? or maybe shock ? Don't know, nothing was clear. Two coffees - and she made me laugh Then footsteps on the stairs Bill had got up, said he's go out He needed some fresh air ! ![]() So my friend who'd rushed to my aid Could have gone home, back to bed But bless her she said 'no worries' And did my shopping instead. Bill's back still aches, his toe now Wears a sticky plaster And now he's taken over dinner Cos he know I'm a disaster ! ![]() I hope tomorrows better And we both sleep well tonight And if he needs the loo I've said 'Switch on the landing light !!!' ![]() |

Well, Bills feeling a bit better
At least thats what he said He slept last night just like a log I woke with aching head !! I've stayed indoors and kept warm He's been out in fresh air Maybe I should try that But the cold winds I can't bear And Mondays weather forecast Well it's not looking good Gale force winds and maybe snow Need eskimo boots and hood !! Last time our chimenea smashed But we've plastic garden chairs The worst I can imagine is They'll blow to who knows where ? And next weekends our holiday Well ten days off we've got To take before April first Or else we loose the lot. We've booked in at a Travel Lodge Two nights at special price Then on to see my grandchildren If we don't have snow and ice !! Be just my luck to have some rain And wind and maybe hail I want to go to Norfolk shopping See just what's on sale ! I've saved my bit of pension That I get - just for me To find the nearest cheapo shop And have a little spree ! So please, please, Mr.Weatherman Tell me it all will end Hail, rain, wind, snow do what you will But be gone by next weekend ! ![]() |

I came back one day early
The weather - it turned foul Was sunshine Monday in Kings Lynn Then the wind began to howl ! Now Travel Lodge, they''re very good But this one was quite chilly And to find a decent place to eat The walk was somewhat hilly ! We found a pub on Sunday Roast dinner - was a treat Then Monday we trudged round Kings Lynn Oh my aching feet. Back to the Travel Lodge we went Was cold, I looked at Bill & said 'I know we're booked an extra night But shall we go today instead ?' 'Oh yes' he said -so off we went Our break away was done But least I got to see my Mum Even better.........baby grandson ! We'd had some retail therapy And I was very good Charity shops were tempting But I only bought what I should. No cardigans or jumpers Of those I've got a lot Then Bill went mad in Poundland Pot scourers -thought he'd lost the plot !! I got some card making stuff -was cheap A cardboard set of drawers To keep my papers and cards in Instead of boxes on the floor. Assembling it was quite a task And one drawer ain't quite right But for today I've had enough Cos Bill - he's got a little plight ! He bought a brand new DVD Played it ' Bad Disc it said I tried it and it worked ok Poor Bill he scratched his head. The player said 'Bad Discs' again Wnen he tried another two or three So do we need a new Player ? Oh lor..........that;s all we need !! More expense to add to all The Bills that have arrived Council Tax - I nearly fainted Can it be justified ? Just cos we've got wheelie bins They've got a bloomin' cheek Plus water rates and Fuel as well Gonna be one of those weeks !! Oh well we've still got seven days left So look on the bright side The weather can do what it wants We'll just stay warm inside. And if we need a new player To play Bills DVD's Then one will get bought for him Count the cost ? for Bill ? Not me ! |

So sorry, Chris, I didn't mean your wee room to ignore!
I've come in with a duster, which I should have done before. I'd meant to have it spick and span for Mary coming back - Too late ! She came home early, didn't she, alas alack. And as for writing poems I'll admit I've been remiss. I wrote one but its in another room instead of this , But I loved the verses that were written in our room by you And when she read them I know Mary will have loved them too. anny. |
