I'm very sorry Mary if you arrive before me
I'm off to get cakes and biscuits to go with your tea
Anny's been very busy, Chris has buckled at the knees
And Vel I think is watching the cricket on TV

Smile Re: own poems

Tis now the evening and oh alas
There is no sign yet of Mary
I hope she is home safe and sound
She isn't the one known to be contrary

What has she made of the Poets Corner
With it's shining surfaces, picture and flowers
Star, Chris and Anny have worked so hard
They've cleaned and polished and scrubbed for hours

New mugs and vases and pencils sharp
the sweet tin is now full - oh what bliss
Cakes and biscuits and fresh tea to brew
Thanks to our friends Star, Anny and Chris

As for me I've tried so I have
But I can't now do physical tasks
I've tried to think of a new game or two
But even that was too much to ask

My little brain isn't what is was
Which is why I'm in awe of the others
They have worked so hard to welcome you back
After your visit away at your mothers

Oh lor, I thought I'd got the wrong room
My word you have been busy
Empty waste bin, flowers, no dust!
I got in quite a tizzy !!

I'm used to loads of dust and mess
My bin's always overflowing
I wondered where the heck I was
Was on the point of going !

How kind - I'd never have done it
You know how I hate housework
It's something that should be avoided
You lot have gone berserk !!

Well now I'm back just be prepared
They'll be fag ash on the floor
And coffee stains and bits of paper
Strewn across the floor !

I can't think about hoovering
Cos while I was away
One of our lads did a runner
To his Mum's he went to stay

Then he kicked up such a fuss
The police had to be called
And in the police cell for the night
He had to be installed !

Poor Bill - he had to cope with this
While I was having fun
With my mate who I stayed with
While I saw poor old Mum.

And poor old soul she looks so lost
Confused is not the word
I talked to her 'bout this and that
She answered not a word

Well, just the odd 'yes' -on occassions 'no'
And then she'd fall asleep
Like beauty waiting for the beast
Slumbering so deep.

So I nipped out into the town
The charity shops beckoned
I bought a long green 'sweater' dress
I looked good -so I reckoned.

I got back, she was still asleep
I sat with her awhile
I kissed her and said a fond 'bye-bye'
And think I saw her smile

I tip-toed out and got my bus
Glad to be coming back
Today I went to the church hall sale
I could have filled a sack !!

So many things and all so cheap
Good retail therapy
Loads of bits to keep for Christmas
And some books for me !

And now I've logged on - just to see
What's been going on
And read the brilliant poems
You did while I was gone.

What a way to cheer me up
Thankyou all so much
But put that duster away now please
You've all done quite enough !

It's Sunday - had a lazy day
That's a bad habit of mine !
Poor Bill -he did the washing
And hoovered -before 'pub time' !

He came back, sorted dinner out
I'd made some birthday cards
And washed my hair, then came on line
Oh dear me..........ain't life hard ??

One lad went to a party
Last night............he's not yet back yet
The other's at his mum and dads
Due home at 9 he said.

Computer keeps on playing up
It forgets its on broadband
And keeps on cutting out on me
I just don't understand !

Maybe it feels it's overworked ?
But it's had a little rest
While I was away for a few days
So it should be at its best !

Oh well, the modern wonders
Of Hi Tech I'll never know
At least for now it's working
But like me, it's a bit slow.

Tomorrow I must get in gear
Kick-start my litle brain
And clear out some more rubbish
Before it breeds again !

Cos I'm sure thats what happens
Turn my back for a while
And what I cleared out last week
Is there...........all in a pile !

I cleared the bedroom last week
Today - what did I see ?
Clothes all piled up on the floor
Oh oops !!! Think that was me !!!

Hands up - yes I admit it !!
This mess is mine alone !
I'd better clear it up or they'll be
No room for me at home !!

Last week , Chris , must have taxed my brain
Writing three poems on the trot
Proved to be rather a strain
I would write more but I can not.
Tomorrow I may try again.

But if I can't do as you ask
Please do forgive, and don't be cross
For Petal its a simple task
So easily she puts across
Her news and views, and does it fast.

But me I struggle every time.
To choose a subject's hard, I find
And trying to find the words that rhyme
Is not easy. Maybe blank verse
Is the next thing to try.

Oh bless you Anny , I do understand

Mary just needs paper and pen in hand

I still try and give it a go

Mainly for mary a ditto to show

Must say your words also flow

Smashing poems you do show

Even if you pop by and drop a line

you know now and again, not everytime

Thanks Anny xxxxx

Sorry I've not been in of late
It's not that I've not had time
But you know what our households like
And I couldn't put it to rhyme !

But things have settled down....for now
Apart from the bloomin' weather
With rain and gale force winds - more rain
I'm at the end of my tether !!

I'm tired of wearing cardigans
(got my brown one on today)
I've got loads.....all different colours
Reds,greens, browns, shades of grey

But seems like I've been wearing them
For months and months on end
I've worn them all so often now
They're like my closest friends !

And this weekend they forecast snow
So thats me...........staying in
I'll just slip over if I go out
Oh eck..........please.....roll on spring !

Cos then I just might feel a bit more like
Doing some witty verse
My brain is froze, like the rest of me
Oh well.............it could be worse !

At least the kids have settled down
Though one's now unemployed
The other's off to see him Mum
So he feels overjoyed !

I've been making birthday cards
Nearly got them all done !
At this rate it'll not be long
Before I start on Christmas ones !

I've even bought some presents
(all from charity shops !)
I aim to get it done by August
Am I organised.......or what ?

Then come the autumn I'll relax
While other folk might panic
Bout what to get for who and 'how much?'
I won't feel so manic !

I can sit and put my feet up
Watch the world go by
Cos I won't have a single pressie
Left I have to buy !!!!!!!!!!

Cool Re: own poems

About the lack of poems
I've read Chris's plea
Mary is back glad to say
But nothing from Star or me

I'm afraid I've been stuggling
Anny is see is the same
But I have searched my little brain
But alas my illness is to blame

I have been getting very tired
Each day is getting worse
But only 5 more days to go
Before I write a better verse

On Friday I go for the day
To receive the magic stuff
3 pints of blood soon sort me out
And stop me feeling so rough

So until then you will have to excuse
And let me off the hook
I cannot contribute very much
But will try and pop on for a look
