For Mollie:

Well, fancy Mollie's a great gran !
To a jolly bouncing boy
Smelling so sweet of Johnson's talc
A nappy filled with joy !

God bless the child..with Mollie
As Great Gran.....he cannot fail
She'll teach him all the rights and wrongs
So he never answers bail !

She'll tell him 'bout his family roots
How her long lost Gran was found
And all those elusive rellies
Who seemed to go to ground.

She'll show him how baguettes are made
Cos Moll's quite good at that
With a bread roll, knife, salad
And a hefty butter pat.

She'll show him how to see the world
Surfing the world wide web
How to travel from Australia
To Iceland while still in bed.

There's nothing Mollie can't teach him
This little lad so small
Though discipline might be quite hard
When he grows to six feet tall.

I can see our Mollie now....sat there
With a shawl across her shoulders
Knitting while telling a tale
As the winter nights get colder.

This little boy - newly arrived
Has yet so much to see
But I bet our Moll's already put him
On her Family Tree.

So well done Mollie and great grandson
May you both enjoy each other
Little lad......you'd have to go some miles
For a better great grandmother !

God Bless xxx

There's football on the tele
And I don't know what to do
I'd look for some dead rellies
But I'm really not sure who.

I've found a Quiry, one of Bills
Seems they first came from France
From a place called Quiry-le-sec
Were they named after it -or was it chance ?

I've looked all through Northamptonshire
Then Bedfordshire - then Bucks
Nothing knew there I could find
It's just my bloomin' luck !

I found a Joseph Smith - I wonder
Is he one of mine ?
So many folk blessed with that name
All sorts of shapes and kind.

I've got some paperwork to do
But the cat's asleep on that
Don't have the heart to wake her up
(She's a tortoiseshell......old and fat !)

Ive a Mother's Day card for Mum to make
With a photo of me as a baby
In a sort of frame and background of flowers
Shall I do that............well ....maybe.

Or maybe not, the kids are in
They're bound to make a racket
With so called 'music' playing loud
From a bloke.......Six Pack ? (or is it Packet ?)

So looks like I'll be stuck here
Googling merrily away
Eardrums being blasted out
What a way to end the day !

At least I avoided pancakes
The kids had clean forgot
They thought Pancake Day was last week
Did I tell them ? No I did not !

Maybe a bit later in the week
I'll buy some - ready made
And tell them to give up a pleasure for Lent
That's a laugh.......they'll say 'Who us ? No way !'

It's ever so quiet - where has everyone gone?
I know football's on tele again
But are we all that keen ? And it's on Skye
Bills gone to the pub......Skye we aint got !

But the pub.....they'll show it on widescreen
So I thought - oh a nice quiet night
To surf the net.....chat with a few mates
And it seems there's no-body in sight !

Then our lad came in -(his girlfriends working)
He's talking about leaving home
Going back to Nottingham, finding a job
Cos he can;t find one here.........(deep sigh/ groan)

I said 'ring your Uncle....see if you can stay
For the week me and Bill are away
You can check it all out.....'ok' he says
But his Uncle said......'Ummm, no'.....(more dismay)

I did feel for this lad.....he so wanted to
Make a fresh start back in his home town
His girlfriend had taken a week off her work
To meet his folks......have a look round.

So he's sat on his bed, wearing a glum face
Feels that life, well it's not being fair
But sad to say it's just beginning
Life's like that......we've all been there.

Disappointments can be opportunites
But he's so young, he just can't see
That life can be so full of promises
And some things......they're just not meant to be.

While he lays on his bed with his worries
About what his future may hold
I'm sitting here quietly, the cat on my lap
To stop my knees feeling the cold.

I've done a few puzzles, sent an e mail
To a rellie.......it was long overdue
Now I'll say 'night night' to everyone here
Till tomorrow.............then I hope I'll see you !

I was trawling through some web sites
Cos I felt a wee bit bored
Then I saw it........Souldrop..Pear Tree Cottage
'Well' I said ,.......'Good Lord !'

I've been trying to trace this cottage
And it's history, who lived there
And Ive found someone with the same quest
'Well, well ......I do declare !'

This Pear Tree Cottage of my grans
(Or Gripe Hole it once was known)
Or was it Gooseys Cottage ?
Well Bless me......I don't know !

Whatever it was called....suddenly
It found it's bit of fame
Two people wanting to know more of it
But only got it's name.

Well, first there was one (me)...then two
Then suddenly there was three
Another offered to help find out
About this little mystery !

And the village.....I need to know more
Was there a Windmill on Windmill Hill ?
There were bluebells in Bluebell Wood
But there's no sign of a Mill.

These might seem small things I know
Trivial in the scheme of things
But to me they're just as important
As hearing the Church Bell ring

So, dead rellies, you must wait your turn
(A few have just popped up)
Cos, sorry, Grans cottage comes first
I've been on this mission long enough !

When I've solved it fair and square
Who built it, why and when
Dead rellies.............then I'll come to your aid
Be patient...........please......wait till then !

I've tried so hard, oh how I've tried
To find out that bit more
About gran's cottage.....tis not to be
Least not for now I'm sure.

So I thought I'd browse the Times Archive
Well could I get there ? No !
I clicked on here - I clicked on there
Put my number in .............no go !

Eventually after many tries
And tearing out my hair
I got in.........found out lots of stuff
Bout rellies here and there.

Seems one, he was a communist
The other Chief Inspector
Another sent to prison - theft
And then I found a Rector !

On was caught for selling soap
She said she'd made herself
But she hadn't - it was pinched
From the shop - straight off the shelf !

One was in court circles
My word - Mum would be proud
But not so if I told her 'bout
The rest of the motley crowd !

Oh what a mish mash of rellies
The good, ugly and bad
It's in the genes.....or so they say
Well it turns out one was mad !

So just for once I hope these genes
That pass traits down the line
Will skip some generations
At least the bad bits - not in mine !

The shoppings been delivered
But the man forgot the bread
And the chicken that was meant for tea
We had fish and chips instead.

Thats about all I've done today
Well my throat hurt......I felt ill
And I've just remembered something vital
My prescription pills !!

I should have picked them up today
Instead on logging on
Just goes to show that once switched on
All other thoughts have gone !

Addicted ? Me ? No never !
I can switch off..............course I can !
I'm going to do it now........watch me.......
Oh eck.........can't move my hand.......!!!!!!

Oh dear I do have a dilemma
My house badly needs a de-clutter
There's stuff on the floor ......where did it come from
Bill looks at it all and just mutters.

I bought all this stuff for a reason
I must have loved it at the time
But where do I put it all -there's just not room
In this little abode I call mine.

My drawers are all full with stuff I've forgotten
So really it hasn't been missed
My cupboards are full with things I don't use
Oh to minimilise would be bliss !

I've got board games and bits of material
(Thought it might come in handy one day)
What for ? I don't know.......but something
And now, well, it's just in the way.

My spare room is full of coats I don't wear
And curtains that no longer fit
Glass vases too small for the flowers that I buy
Oh......there's a box of candle making kit !

I blame all this hoarding on Grandma and Dad
They threw not one item away
Grans whole house took a week to clear out
Dad's bedroom......well that took several days !

And half of Dad's stuff I brought home with me
I can't let the old man go yet
I've his drum sticks, his symbol and snare drum
His old kit bag and shoe cleaning set.

So someone out there......please help me
Cos this lot is all driving me mad
It's free to a good home........anything I've got
Long as it didn't belong to my Dad !

I'd advertise on the freecycle website
But does anyone want what I've got ?
I'd feel so embarassed if everyone said 'No'
And I'd be left cluttered up with this lot !

A Boot Fair ? I thought well, just maybe
But what can I charge for my 'tat' ?
50p ?- maybe some items a pound ?
No......I'd buy more and bring what's left back !
