hey folks ..got a secret
You all listening now
Its 2007, a new year
Lets give em a wow

We don't need to party
tho' that would be fun
we can play in the snow
or like me in the sun

but all have to reach it
no matter the call
so Happy New Year
to each one and all

I'd would like to say thankyou
to all that I've met
to those that did help me
thro out my upset

and those that I don't know
be strangers no more
you will always be welcome
If you knock on my door

May I say to you all
Have a happy New Year
and your cup runneth over
with plenty of cheer

There are so many names
that I would like to say thanks
but if I tried naming
they would call for the tanks

So I will leave you
with one thought in mind
its 2007
try to be kind

Jac

Re: 2007
Happy New Year to you too Jac
A good one it's gonna be
(Chap on the tele said so)
It's where the planets are you see.

Something to do with Pluto
Jupiter and the sun
Can't remember all he said
But we're all gonna have fun.

It's gonna be outstanding
Cos we're gonna make it so
And if we fall down - we'll get up
Any sadness - it won't show.

We'll find those rellie's that we've missed
Knock down our brickwalls
Keep our New Years Resolutions
Well...............maybe not all !

Life will just get better
(Though there's bound to be some 'downs')
But we know that's gonna happen
So we'll smile instead of frown.

Cos we've all got each other
And friends..........well they come free
To help us through what life throws at us
Just you wait and see......................................

Happy New Year Jac and everyone

It's the second day of this new year
Resolutions ? Not too well
I filled in my diary entry
Then I logged on for a spell.

My filing cabinet still is full
Of stuff from four years ago
I meant to sort it yesterday
But didn't........well you might know !

My grans locket and the photos
Of me and my big brother
Are sat there waiting to be done
All ready for my mother.

My paperwork I did get done
For my boss..........it was a must
For a meeting in the morning
(Hope she dont notice the dust !)

I meant to sort out bedroom out
The washing's in a heap
I looked at it and closed the door
(It might still be there next week !)

I thought I'd write some letters
To thank folk for their gifts
But the phone rang & the cat was sick
My brain began to drift.

What was I going to do today ?
I should have made a list
Hang on...........I did........where is it ?
No wonder stuff's been missed !

If I don't write down what to do
And tick it off when done
Nothings ever finished.....I'm a lost cause
(Says my Mum !)

Oh well, I'll start tomorrow
Maybe............oh no - I'd better not
Meeting in the morning then
I must go to the shops !

Thursday ? Well I ought to
At least make a firm start
On sorting out my filing cabinet
Before it falls apart.

Oh New Years Resolutions
Why do I do this every year ?
I always fail to keep them
(Think my brains are in my feet !)

My Diary is the only thing
That I've managed to do
One small entry so far
Tomorrow - that makes two !

So if I just do one thing
That I've set as a goal
Well, that ain't bad now.........is it ?
And writing's good for the soul !

Oh dear.....day three - it's getting worse
I've got no time to write this verse
I''ve stuff to do, like clearing up
And washing up my coffee cups
I've done nothing since yesterday
(Well had a meeting that lasted half the day!)
Filing cabinet's fit to drop
Pile of washing ? There's more on top!
Grans locket - not even looked at it
My little den looks like a tip !
Files are bulging, fit to burst
It's not getting better -it's getting worse !
Oh eck.....must kick myself to touch
Before this chore becomes to much
Even my diary's not been done
Was going to......then I rang my Mum !
She wasn't there -so that's no excuse
And I'm turning into a recluse !
I've not been out - I said I would
Fresh air might do me a bit of good
Oh well, it's getting a bit late now
It's cold - don't feel like it somehow
Maybe tomorrow ? Maybe then ?
I'll make a start.............count up to ten
Plough into things...........give it my best shot
Clear up, wash up...........do the lot !
But will I? won't I ? That's the question
Oh now I've gone and got indigestion !!
The best laid plans of mice and men
And me............they've not been done...............again !!

Oh dear oh dear I've done nothing
And now we're on day four !
Today I though 'Right I'll get on'
Someone knocked on the door.

Was the homeless lad from in his tent
Supposed to be in court
But got no money for the bus fare
My my, he was fraught !

Well, we've done all we can for him
Ain't lending no more money
Cos can't afford it - never pays back
And that - it just ain't funny.

He phoned up his solicitor
Using our phone of course !!
His solicitor said 'well it's your fault
He slammed the phone down with force !

Then off he went to see some mates
To try and raise some cash
To pay his bus fare......I saw the time
Said 'You'll have to dash !'

There's only three buses a day
And he'd already missed one
Later on he came back here
His face - it did look glum.

He hadn't got to court at all
And he'd more news quite grim
That lodgings he'd applied for
Refused to take him in.

I rang a hostel, they might help
I thought.........'Oh yes' she said
Fill out an application form'
(Oh my aching head !)

I tried another, surely somewhere
One would take this lad
Without waiting for applications
And meetings to be had.

Seems not.........it's a cruel world
Council ? They don't want to know
Ask if they can help him
And the answer's always 'No !'

So what's this chap to do all winter
Sleeping in a tent
Depressed and all demoralised
Goodwill season ? That went !

So I've fed and watered this poor chap
And sent him on his way
To try the council yet again
And see what they have to say.

So. all my plans, they went to pot
Tomorrow will they fall apart ?
Or might I just - well you never know
Get done before February starts ?

I took myself out shopping
I'd not been out all week
And with all the traumas that cropped up
I thought I'd have a treat !

Building society -pay Mum;s care fees
Post Office - Pension Day !
Then off I went to the charity shops
Bargains there ? I'd say !!

I got a box file and some notelets
A picture - the lot 50p !
Two Jumpers - a bit dearer
£3 each..........hope they fit me !

More notelets - in a gift box
Pot Pourri -vanilla scent
Some Olive oil soap & a sponge
So far -Nine pound was spent !

Then I saw an orchid
Wasn't real you understand
But the same colour as my wedding flower
I grabbed it in my hand !

Back to the counter then I went
Got it paid for - 80p !
So still I'd spent under a tenner
And that's not bad for me !

Better not spend more I thought
Time I was getting home
To take the decorations down
Be bad luck if I don't !

Our lad and his mates helped me
(No accidents this year !)
So that's all done - but the rest
Of 'stuff to do' - oh dear !

I haven't touched my filing cabinet
Diary ? - that's 4 days late
My desk's a mess - can't find things
Grans locket will have to wait.

Oh deary me I've gone to pot
I must get organised
Keep at least one New Years Resolution
If it's only 'daily moisurise' !

Oh bum ! My day has all gone wrong
The ink cartridge that I bought
To print my history stuff out with
Daft me got the wrong sort !!

I got up this morning -good intentions
List of stuff to do - get on,
Checked my e mails quickly
For a mailing list I'm on.

Lo and behold......a name I knew
Pinard ! I went all cold.......
Cos sometimes Pendereds were Pinards
At least that's what I'm told.

I got out all my history stuff
There was a Smith & Pettit too
To check if these just might be mine
Well, they could be .....I found a few

I wrote it all down quickly
Then checked my Smiths once more
The cat leapt up - made me jump so much
My Smiths were on the floor !

My folder - it burst open
My Smiths were everywhere
I've had to put them back in order
Oh I did despair !

It's all done now (I hope it's right)
And I bet after all that
They'll be no link, no connection
What a waste of time..........oh drat !!

So, once again, I'm at square one
Saying I'll do all these things
I''ve given up on it today
See what tomorrow brings.

Our lad's been in and out all day
Each time he brings more mates
Makes himself a sandwich
(Has he never heard of plates ?)

The doors been open so many times
Cold air came wafting in
I'm shivering as I write this
Cardigan's needed I think !

So - sorry I've been moaning
(If you were me you would)
And now I'm off for a bowl of soup
And the last of the christmas pud !

Well todays the start of a new week
And have I got anything done ?
Well I have as it happens, though not much
But sorted out stuff for my Mum.

The council had wanted some money
She's not had to pay them before
Ten phone calls it took with ten different folk
But theyve said - 'no need to pay anymore.'

I hoovered and washed up -while Bill was in bed
A touch of 'Man Flu' he had said
I said 'Best stay in' He said 'I need some fresh air
So he walked down to the pub instead !

My Diary -that's up to date now
My filing cabinet sadly is not
Tomorrow I'll sort it.......I really must
Else face down on the floor it will drop !

Photos for Grans locket - sorted them out
Just need copies taken of them
Then off to the jewellers to fit them in right
Mum can wear grans locket again.

So bit by bit, well I;m getting there
And let's face it - it's not bad for me
But now I need more motivation
To get stuck into my family tree.

So if anyone out there know how
I can get interested in my kith and kin
Please please let me know or that'll be it
On the shelf they'll be ......or in the bin
