Brilliant poems......meaningful words....beautiful.
My dad passed over 7 years ago, and I think about him and miss him each and every day..... The "firsts" are really hard Jac, the 1st xmas, his 1st birthday, my 1st birthday that he couldnt send a card......but it does become easier as time moves on. Ash remembers her grandad and we can talk about her early memories of him....but young Loz was only 2 and she only knows about him through the photos and what we tell her. And yes Mary, bet they all up there having a raving party! Loz |

It's New Years eve now and time to recall
What the past year has been like for us all For me -well it's been one of plumbing and drains Needing attention - hope I don't have that again ! I broke my wrist tripping over the tree So this year Bill's taking down decs.....not me ! No. 2 son at last has the job of his dreams Teaching art at the college where he got his degree No.1 son has a new girlfriend (with house and car) (Means he'll be spending less time at the bar !) Our Mindi -she was glum, out of work for a while She's got a job now so that's made her smile. Our Geoff started off the year -nowhere to live So he came back -we'd a room we were happy to give Now he's a flat, and he works very hard Doing gardening - he's so busy his mate cleared my yard ! His mate did my drive when the drain had been fixed Now it's gravelled with paving slabs -tastefully mixed. We had a new gas boiler fitted - all free Just because I got a small disability ! The lad we've now got here living with us Has been in some trouble and caused such a fuss So he's got an Anti Social Behaviour Contract And has promised that now he will 'clean up his act' My Mum.........well she gave me such a scare Rushed to hospital..............touch and go......glad I was there Doctors were worried..........they don't know my Mum Next day she laughing............said 'why have you come ?' Our oldest cat thought - it's too cold outdoors So now we've got a litter tray on the floor ! I'm sure there's been more events.... happy and sad But reading through them -well the years not been bad For every bad thing there's been something good I'd make only good things happen if I could But maybe we have to have bad now and again To enjoy the rainbow that follows the rain. Happy New Year to you all |

Jac and Mary your poems are beautiful and had me in tears as well. No need for apologies Jac. I think we all know those feelings only too well. My Mum passed in 1984 and my Dad in 1986. I can still hear them both singing (though Mum not quite in tune as Dad ) but she played a mean piano. My brother sadly passed in February 2006. Bros favourite ditty was Bonny Mary O' Argylle but the words were adapted to suit squaddies. I have visions and memories of musical evenings!! with lots to drink and fun going on. My Michael just about remembers my Mum and Dad. Terry has no memory of either of them. My older kids tell them about their experiences with them both. Dad was great fun though and I miss his humour and quick retorts. Mind you Mum wasn't far behind..
Wish I could have put this into rhyme but keyboard would have blown up with the tears so had to write it as it came to me. Sorry for going on a bit. Molls xxx |

Oh Jac that was lovely and I understand how you feel.
Today is the Anniversary of my lovely Dad's death .. 1.1.1986 Bless him he was wonderful .. this morning my Sister rang and as usual we were both very sad but also this day is the birthday of our Grandson and he is 12 so that does make life easier. Life goes on and we all have very happy memories so my Father will be dancing in the clouds with Mary and Jac's Dad's as will all our loved ones. Now with a big smile on my face I will walk on through the clouds and come out into the sunshine Mattygirl |
