AA 2 Poem thread

I've decorated Grandma
Least her Family History files
I had so many papers, there were
Piles and piles and piles!

I found some pretty paper
With Pillow Lace and flowers
Old adverts and cooking books
Crikey....it took me hours !

I finished and my Gran's files
Well they looked really smart
But now there's no room for Grandad
So they have to live apart !

I had them both together
But there's no longer space
For Grandad now Grans decorated
He needs a new place.

I've found him a nice folder
I hope he's happy there
He's got a photo of my Gran
So one small page they'll share.

Dare I tell you of the trauma
I had Saturday night
Trying oh so very hard
To get on our new site ?

I logged in as I'd done before
'Incorrect' - try again
Logged in again then I was told
'Incorrect'- oh my poor brain !

This happened oh so many times
An hour at least I tried
Chris tried hard to help me
But was beat....I could have cried !

Shan talked me through the log-in
Bless her, she was a dear
But 'Incorrect' the page said
'Not again' I thought, near tears !

Chris fetched Jon, he asked me
'Cookies - are they deleted?'
'Yes' says I, so many times
This actions been repeated.

Along came Kel, my hero
What she did I don't know
But I logged in -surprise surprise !
On site......raring to go !

By this time I was worn out
Would have gave up long before
But I knew I must get on
I'd logged on ok before.

What was it? Was it me ?
What did I do wrong?
Why was my name so 'Incorrect'?
Why did it take so long ?

My points are down to Zero
Top scorer I'm no more
I thought if I can't get on site
Nil Points is what I'll score !

Oh well, no matter - it's ok
I've logged on fine since then
So fingers crossed and legs as well
It won't happen again !..........................lol

I've copies and I've pasted
All the history on here
'Bout places I was born and lived
And other places near.

Recipes from the area
Dialect as well
Now all it needs is other folk
Some history stuff to tell.

Looking for it's so much fun
Amazing what you find
About the town you thought you knew
Or, like me, left behind.

I've put on christian names and meanings
Well least, my kith and kin
Most of mine are biblical
And some, Greek origin.

So come on folks lets have some fun
Delve deep, see what you find
Where did we live? What was it called
Before these modern times?

Why do we have the names we've got ?
Why do some regions cook
Strange dishes that I, for sure
Wouldnt give a second look !

Why do we talk with accents
That are hard to understand
You'd think that we'd all sound the same
But still, I think it's grand.

Were really quite a mish mash
Of peculiar sounds and tastes
But does it matter ? Not a jot
Not here.....our rightful place ! (AA2)

What am I to do ?

I'm running out of things to say
That just might make folks laugh
My half baked wit is fading
It's dwindling by half!

Please come and put a poem on
I need something to read
Something I've not written
Oh peeps, do pay heed !

Help a poor old lady out
Who's struggling with some rhyme
I don't know what to say no more
Oh eck....is that the time ?

I've copying and pasting
To do from AA 1
I can't sit here just rambling
Else the job will not get done !

So here endeth this silly verse
Now someone's at the door!
Oh crikey it just ain't my day-
Bye bye.....can't write no more !

Oh eck this daft computer
It's like something possessed
This afternoon it worked a treat
Tonight...it wanted a rest !

I logged on to the internet
At least that's what I thought
'No diallin tone' the little box said
Or something of that sort.

I tried again, well several times
Each time 'No dialing tone'
I rang up Val, check your line
I said 'It works, I'm on the phone!'

'Oh eck' says she 'well I don't know
'Switch off and try again,
And check all your connections'
'I have' I said(counting to ten!)

In the end I got on line
And now it's clear to me
Why Val had not much time to chat
Eastenders was on T.V. !

Shan made a big announcement
In the Coffee Room
'Crissy's getting it tonight!'
I scratched my head, thought.....'Who???'

Then I twigged, he bloomin' soaps
Hooked on them I'm not
And as for Grunt and Phil - well
I think they're best forgot !

I'm sorry for you fans out there
I don't want to offend
But, honest, I aint bothered
'Bout this sage of the East End.
